Dr. Jatinder Mohan Chawla, MD

I am a double board certified Child/Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist trained at the Northshore LIJ Health System and SUNY Downstate Medical Center. I have over a decade of experience caring and helping individuals overcome psychological problems including, but not limited to, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Asperger's/Autism Disorder, Depression/Bipolar, Personality Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, relationship and career impairments, adjustment difficulties, low self-esteem and related life issues.

As a psychiatrist, I provide a non-judgmental and relaxed atmosphere to assist my clients in addressing their concerns, and make an active attempt to understand them as a whole person.
After a thorough evaluation, I work with my clients to create an individualized treatment plan to help them envision and pursue their strengths, goals, and aspirations. I use evidence based treatment modalities including psychotherapy, medications, and complementary …alternative medicine. For patients already in therapy, I also provide adjunctive medication treatment in collaboration with their therapists.

Currently, I am a consultant at Northshore LIJ Health system and Winthrop Hospital, and teach trainees including medical students, residents, and fellows. I also currently serve as a reserve psychiatrist in the US army. I have received Young/New Investigator Awards from various organizations including American Psychiatric Association & American Academy of Child/ Adolescent Psychiatry.
