Dr. Jawad Ilyas received a combined bachelor of medicine and surgery from Allama Iqbal Medical College and University of Health Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan. After coming to the United States, Dr. Ilyas completed his residency in internal medicine at Michigan State University where he received the Resident Investigator of the Year award. He then went on to complete his fellowship in transplant hepatology and second fellowship in gastroenterology from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Ilyas has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Journal of Hepatology, Clinics in Liver Disease, and Gastroenterology Clinics of North America. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Association for Study of Liver Diseases, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. Dr. Ilyas has a …special interest in both general and transplant hepatology as well as general gastroenterology. He has received specialized training in management of complex liver problems including viral hepatitis, metabolic, genetic and autoimmune liver diseases. He has expertise in management of pre- and post-liver transplant patients. Dr. Ilyas welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.

I met Dr Ilyas during my short stay at the Gainesville, GA hospital being treated for Diverticulitis. From that experince, I decided to use Dr. Ilyas for my recent Colonoscopy procedure. I was very impressed with the overall experience. The entire staff was warm, friendly, and attentful. Dr Ilyas spent plenty of time explaining everything pre and post op for the procedure. I would gladly recommend this doctor to friends and family!

This office is very poorly staffed. My husband has probably left work at least 10 times the past few months to go to their office just because he could not get through their phone lines. The only nice person in that office is the lady in the lab. I only saw him once I usually saw his PA JennyGardner he was rude. I was suffering with pancreatitis and needed to be referred to Emory which their provider Dr Camilo who did my EUS several weeks ago and we have yet to get the results up. He also referred me to Emery and I have not yet gotten that referral. They wanted to do a colonoscopy before I went to Emory so they could keep the money under their little umbrella as I suffered needing to get answers as to why I was having pancreatitis. They were not informative nor were they trust or kind. They seriously need to take their doctors as a little more seriously. Very disturbed by this practice

When I was a kid the teachers would tell us we could be a doctor. Well she wasn't lying. If this guy did it the school Janitor and cafeteria lady could have made it as a doctor as well.
