Dr. Jay Barnett, MD

I was given medical device by receptionist and told to use without seeing the doctor. The staff was rude and unprofessional. The doctor is doing a bad job with his office management and the office is unsafe.

Dr. Barnett really knows his "business." He treated a condition that 3 other dermatologists didn't know how to handle. In my book, he is the greatest!

After not seeing Dr. Barnett for many years, I finally succumbed to schedule an appointment as the psoriasis on my hand had gotten worse. I concur with the other patients' comments: that he is not only impersonal and very intimidating, he comes across as having a chip on his shoulder and seemingly resents your asking questions. As another patient had testified, NOT ONCE did Dr. Barnett look at my skin condition. The fact that other patients had a wonderful experience must be indicative of a different type of dynamic taking place between him and the patient. He may be excellent in his field; certainly his profile is most impressive. But Dr. Barnett needs serious improvement in his doctor to patient skills. But since he's had such a successful practice over so many years, it probably doesn't even matter to him.

Dr. Barnett is experienced, fast and efficient.

this is my third visit over the past three years. Each visit I was greeted by friendly staff, registered quickly and seen quickly. Dr Barnett was very friendly, forthcoming, informative and inquisitive about my needs, and thorough about what he saw, what he was doing, and advice for the future. It is beyond my why anyone would complain about this practice or Dr. Barnett. I would highly recommend the practice as well as Dr. Barnett.

I have been going to Dr. Barnett for well over 20 years. I do not understand these negative reviews. He is knowledgeable, sympathetic, patient and detailed with his explanations, and above all extremely capable. You are in safe and reassuring hands with him.

Spends less than two minutes in the room with you. On follow up visits, he does not even examine your skin up close, he just sits on his chair in the corner. He does not offer his "expert" opinion as far as your treatment options--you have to advocate for yourself and take that initiative to ask about other treatments, changing dosages, what is the best treatment, etc. Then he will simply say "ok, we can up the dose," say he'll put in the Rx, and leave the room. Luckily, I am a nurse so I can advocate for myself in order to get the treatment I need. But it would be nice to have a doctor that truly cares and provides you with the treatment he thinks is best for your particular situation. I only go to him to receive refills of the Rx I decided for myself that I needed. When I ask for his opinion, he acts annoyed and bothered and says "that's up to you." He has no empathy, horrible bedside manner...a disgrace of a doctor.

I only took him to see my son because he's the closest doctor with an appointment in-network. What a jerk! Went for follow up appointment and he didn't even take time to look at his skin. The whole visit took less than 5 minutes. Don't waste your money or time.

Dr. Barnett has proved to be an excellent physician for me over the past decade. After finding him as an alternate to a physician who always found something on my back to biopsy, I have been so pleased. He is thorough, prompt, courteous and I trust him implicitly. No more routine biopses that left me wondering how many is too many. My husband who shifted to Dr. Barnett when I did is also a satisfied patient. No complaints...only praise for his care.

I do not know when Dr. Barnett stopped enjoying being a doctor, but he is an unhappy professional in my book. No time to explain or engage... just shoot the nitrogen. Appointments have been on-time, but the experience has not been at all satisfying.
