Dr. Jay B Bender, MD

I have had multiple back surgeries resulting from three automobile wrecks. Dr. Bender is the fourth Pain Management doctor I have seen and the first that I don't feel like their primary concern is to make money(Others pushed shots and procedures when they haven't helped at all). Each visit, he checks out my flexibility and range of motion, we talk about how I've been since my last visit. He freely discusses anything that I ask him about, as my Wife and I are always researching new things coming out in the field of Pain Management. Dr. Bender and his staff have a great bedside manner and are always helpful. Anyone who says otherwise, has some kind of agenda. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Bender to anyone who is searching for a caring Pain Management practitioner.

Recently went for my scheduled appointment for medication refills for medicine I have to have or risk withdrawal symptoms. When I signed in the front desk said" we tried to notify you" we are not accepting Medicare and you need to find another Doctor that specializes in Pain Management! Mind you I have 3 days before I need my refil.. I literally burst into tears.. I never even received a phone message etc. To say my estimation of Dr. Bender and front end staff plummeted. Dr. Bender did not come out to reception area to say goodbye etc. I have been a Patient for over 5 years!! Before this incident I would have recommended Dr. Bender

Dr. Bender is a nice doctor. His staff is very nice. The wait time is short. All in all it's usually about a 15 minute process. I walk in pay my co-pay, about 5 minutes later I'm in a patient room. Once in the room you wait about 3-5 minutes. When he comes in he pulls out your chart and a prescription pad. Within about 3-5 minutes you're walking out the door with your pain med prescriptions. Sure he is considered a "pill mill / rogue doctor", and I do agree. However, he doesn't judge. He simply writes you your prescription, and lets you on your way. So, if you want to easily acquire pain meds (legally) go see him. Before anyone bashes what I'm saying, I've known him long enough to say what I'm saying.

Dr. Bender is an excellent doctor. He is compassionate, listens to his patients and has a wonderful bedside manner. I have dealt with other physicians that have treated me like a number in their practice and offered no empathy. I have been dealing with chronic pain for several years now. I can't stress enough how important is is to be understanding and empathetic as a Dr. He listens to me and takes time to discuss ALL available treatment options. I once went to his office in tears from pain and frustration from trying to deal with the pain. He reassured me that he would get it under control and help me get my quality of life back, which I think is 1 of the main things chronic pain sufferers really want...to be able to lead as normal a life as possible. I am so elated to have been referred to him. Also, his nurse and front desk receptionist have ALWAYS been polite and helpful...really nice folks. Don't judge him if you've never even seen him, as one of the previous reviewers did. I… don't know how I would be able to function if it weren't for Dr. Bender and I am so grateful for him and his awesome staff! Y'all rock!

Very nice, very professional. Listens to your concerns and trys to fix the problem and will take a different approach until you are comfortable. And the staff are great! I would highly recommend to others and have. A++ service

I have seen Doctor Bender over a year .. He is the best.. There are many people who make comments who have never seen him .. I broke my back and he has been great. I never wait more than 10 minutes to see him... The staff is great.. Be nice to them and they will be nice to you. If you visit him one time you will not go to another doctor he is that nice of a doctor.

Dr Bender is actually a good doctor. He is a nice guy, has no qualms about giving you the medications or injections you need and will talk to you. He is a bit hurried and sometimes gets the RX amounts wrong, so you have to check, but this has been true of most doctors I've seen. They tend to just copy the prescriptions they gave you at the last visit; if anything has changed, you need to be vigilant and check them. The staff is horrible! Rude, hateful, uncaring and unprofessional. Are there ANY pain doctors out there with good staff?

They make take appointments every two weeks which make medical cost horrible! With appointment and medicine over $200 a month. Office staff is hateful - hateful - hateful - don't even think of calling and asking a question - you will either be told they are busy and don't have time to talk to you or HANG UP ON YOU! The office manager is the most rude person - look at the sign on her wall about "her attitude" - very true - hateful. You are herded through like cattle - prescriptions are wrong - appointments are wrong - medical records are wrong - diagnosis on test that are given are never told to you - if you want meds he seems to be a nice person and will write you a prescript - but deal with what you get - hateful - unhelpful staff - if you want a professional DOCTORS office - this isn't it.

I would highly recommend Dr. Bender. He took the time to listen, answer all my questions and I was comforted by his pleasant bedside manner. The office staff is professional on the phone and in the office. I have no complaints about Dr. Bender or his staff. I am so happy to have him as my doctor.
