Dr Jay cared for my son in an emergent, traumatic situation with calm confidence. The quality of care he gave my son medically was superb. The communication with the family showed sensitivity atnd compassion. Dr Jay cared for my son (and our family) not as if we were patients, but rather like we were family.

I was a patient of Dr. Johannigman in 1993, '94 and '95 at Wilford Hall Medical Center, when he was still in the military and at the VA Hospital in Cincinnati, after he went into the reserves. When I became his patient, I was on active duty in the Marine Corps. I was given a 10% chance of survival because no one had ever seen my condition in an adult before so there was no way of knowing how to fix me. My original doctors had given up and were just waiting for me to die. Dr. J was the only doctor willing to try everything he could to save me. It took him 3 years to do it and I might not have a perfect life, but it's better than being dead. He kept me from giving up on myself and everything else. Because of him I was able to walk out of that hospital after 3 years and even without a colostomy and have lived longer than any other doctor said I would. I would recommend him to any one with gastrointestinal problems or any other abdominal problems.
