Dr. Jay Donovan Keener, MD

Dr Keener is a very gentle thought person he has done extensive elbow surgery on me several times with great success. I tried to make an appointment with him recently but neither the appointment desk or Meredith would return my call. Very sad.

Dr. Keener did reverse shoulder replacement surgery on both my shoulders. Before the surgery, I wasn't able to lift my arm above my waist. I was in a lot of pain and I couldn't sleep well at night. The surgeries were two years apart, and now I have 99% mobility in both shoulders. I can ride my bike and will take up swimming again. Dr. Keener is an excellent doctor and I am grateful for his orthopedic expertise and skills.

I would never recommend this physician to anyone. Rude is an understatement when it comes to this guy.

Dr. Keener did a great job on my frozen shoulder. He is very personable and spends the time you need to understand all your options.

I was sent to Doctor Kenner by my Doctor for a elbow in need of repair. Doctor Kenner and his nurse spent over thirty minutes with him explaining to me what was wrong with my elbow and what they needed to do to repair it. He was so patient with me as I had a lot of questions. He explained in detail what to expect before,during and after the surgery. The surgery was a success and the healing process went great. I highly recommend Doctor Kenner and his staff and I would like to thank them for a awesome job well done..

Dr. Keener did a clavicle resection on my fiancee.Several months post-op he was still having a lot of pain and Dr. Keener went so far as to suggest that the pain was emotional and he would "just have to move past it".My fiancee was also having bruising around one of the incision sites.Twice bruising would just spontaneously appear and Dr. Keener's response was to insinuate that my fiancee was somehow causing the bruising himself.I guess Dr. Keener thought he was somehow punching himself in the shoulder!!We were so insulted that we decided at that point that we would not be going back to see him, as he clearly was not interested in my fiancee's case.Not a good impression of a top 10 doctor.Would not recommend him to anyone.

If you are in need of this procedure do not be afraid and go to Dr Keener. He is the BEST? I had no pain and recovery was easy.

DR Keener did not just operate on A shoulder..he operated on MY shoulder knowing WHO I am / my activity level and outcome goals. I am VERY athletic and competetive...and not very patient...I am 6 wks out and am VERY pleased with the decisions he made with my shoulder and have confidence of a full recovery(90-95% strength)and back to training and competeing(I am 54yrs old and was very nervous...DR KEENER and HIS staff were GREAT...and the P.T. program has been super...THANKS STAFF AT WASH-U

Dr. Keener scheduled surgery on an upper arm fracture that had not healed. He showed up hours late for my surgery at Barnes Hospital, gave no excuse, and cancelled the surgery. He was rude and condescending and resfused to discuss his decision. He told me it was my fault, that I had misunderstood the purpose of the surgery. He would not listen or discuss his decision not to operate. My daughter got upset and said, "What about my Mom's broken arm?" He said, "Oh she can live with that."
