Livonia Dental Care has become like family

Imagine actually wanting to go to the dentist.  Impossible right?  Not if you go to Livonia Dental Care.  For someone who struggles with anxiety on a daily basis, the added anxiety of going to the dentist can be utterly frightening.  I hadn’t been in a few years so I knew I needed some work.  Even with daily medication and back up help anxiety I was still so scared I dragged my husband along.  The first visit was enough to make me feel at home.  Everyone I talked to introduced themselves and were so friendly.  I managed to get the courage to go to my cleaning/consultation for my much needed dental work without my husband and I was so impressed with the comforting feeling was given again because of my anxiety.  Dr. Jay even kept making sure I was ok and reassured me that at any time if I needed a minute I could take it.  That cleaning was the best …cleaning I ever had, and their innovative techniques are outstanding.  I literally could go in everyday to have it done because they really care my mouth felt like it was brought back to life.
That is of course until the dreaded consultation for what was to come to bring my mouth to where it should be.  I was getting anxious just thinking about my appointment to get the real work done.  Then Dr. Jay explained Sedation Dentistry to me.  Dr. Jay and the staff assured me I would really just feel a little groggy and sleepy and that by the next day I would feel much better and I probably wouldn’t have any more soreness than what an ibuprofen would take care of.  I decided to do that way, set up my appointment and did tons of research online for sedation dentistry, including reading the testimonials on their site.  I took the pills are required the night before and the day of my appointment and I never felt any anxiety, just tired.  They gave me a last little dose to put me out and away they went.  They day flew by, and while I did wake up during the last hour, I was offered a little more medicine to put me back to sleep, I was in such a calm state that even though I know that was going on, I was fine being awake while they finished up.  My appointment lasted from 8am until 2:30, long day probably for them however time flew for me, but it was one appointment I was done.  I went home, slept a little bit, had dinner, then went to bed about 8:30 for the night, woke up and went to work the next day like nothing ever happened.  I never had to take anytime for pain or discomfort and my mouth feels like a million bucks!
Now when I go in, everyone remembers my name and treats me like im part of the Livonia Dental Care family.  I look forward to going in for my next cleaning, and never in a million years did I think that I would be saying that.  I was so impressed by everything there; I passed out referrals and had to ask for more.  Call them, you won’t be disappointed!

Getting over my fear

A week ago I walked into your office to have a wisdom tooth pulled.  The fear inside me was more than at other times in scarier situations.  When Gail walked me to the end office for the dental work, she asked why I was talking so slow, my reply was “dead man walking”.  I thought of everything and anything to say or do to get out of having the work done.  A rock from the parking lot to hit Jay over the head, money to buy my way out, passing out, crying and just living with the pain.
Before this started Dr. Jay said it would not be painful and that everything would work out ok.  My last tooth that was pulled was 26 years ago and with the Dentist placing his knee on my chest to get that extra pull was enough to seal that deal of not having any more teeth pulled.
