Dr. Jay H Sandberg, DO

Dr. Sandberg is VERY thorough and dedicated to his patients. I like to think of him as my own personal Dr. House (the TV show). If you are generally healthy and want to see someone for 5 minutes, get a blood test, referral, prescription, etc. and get out the door, the PA, Bridget Swanson, may be the one you want to see that visit. However, if you need a doctor to get to the bottom of a medical problem or you have a chronic medical medical issue, Dr. Jay Sandberg is the doctor for you. I have complex, chronic, medical conditions that require medical attention and Dr. Sandberg has never left me feeling like I had gotten the bum's rush out the door (as I had from my previous doctor at another Troy physician's office). Dr. Sandberg takes whatever time is necessary to address your medical issues and as such, sometimes runs late. For that reason I recommend an early appointment if you are in a hurry. I have never been left sitting in the waiting room or the exam room for long alone, but the… visits with Dr. Sandberg do tend to run long. In addition to handling patients in his office and at William Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak, he is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and a clinical instructor for Wayne State University Physician Assistant Studies Program. What that means for his patients is that he has medical students and PA students in training who see patients in his office before he comes in. They go over your medical information in their system, ask you questions about it, and then address why you are there. They update their computer, leave, and then come back in with Dr. Sandberg who goes over all the same stuff, asks more questions, more computer updates as the visit goes on, etc. They do labs, x-rays, EKGs (ECGs), breathing machine (not sure what it's called), ultrasound, stress tests, and other medical testing in house. They have recommendations for specialists that are the best of the best specialists from within the Beaumont family of specialists. His office is called Oakland Medical Center in the Kroger shopping center at the corner of East Long Lake Rd and Livernois in Troy. The practice also includes Bridget Swanson, PA, Oakland Medical Research, and medical school and PA school students in training with Dr. Sandberg. I also entrusted my mother in law to his care. Their staff is also very good.

Dr. Sandberg is an excellent and very intelligent physician. He cares very much for his patients.

I have bee with Dr. Sandberg since he opened his practice. He is personable and attentive. He has kept me alive all these years with agressive treatment of deadly family diseases,mainly heart and diabetes. He has treated my mom,husband, sister, and daugter. That says it all right there.

We are very fortunate to have Dr. Sandberg caring for our father.
