Dr. Jay Ivor Swanson, MD

Very uncaring doctors office. His assistants are just as bad. I 100% regret ever going to this practice. Nobody in this office has any communication skills.

Dr. Swanson has skills second to none. He removed a large cyst from my face and you cannot see a scar at all. The best!

Very very unprofessional! Dr Swanson is a very disrespectful man. I had to get up and leave the room. A angry dentist is not who I want working on my teeth. I would recommend going elsewhere.

Wait time was 1 hour 45 minutes. Staff acted like this was normal. Dr was very rude and staff wasnt much better. He was excited to see my brother had stage 4 cancer and called his workers in to see it before telling us. Staff did not follow through with what they said they would do. Avoid this dentist!

Okay so for the past few weeks I had been dreading getting all four of my wisdom teeth pulled. My anxiety was up and it was bothering me up to the appt day to where I was literally shaking on the seat. Anyway, I had already worked out all the payment details which the total I had to pay or will is 1550 which is a 1000 dollars cheaper than the other places I was looking into. I went in and was made to wait for a few minutes before being escorted to the back. Swanson's assistant, I wish I knew her name, was really pleasant and made me feel comfortable. She was asking questions if I was always that anxious when it came to the dentist making sure that I was okay. My sandals were taken off and put aside as well. The assistant then explained to me how things were going to go and how they were going to start off. She got me hooked to up their pulse and heart rate machine then proceeded to put nitrous gas over my nose to relax me. Both Swanson and her gave it a few minutes to set in before… inserting the IV into my arm. Swanson came in after I was already relaxed and made a small joke causing me to laugh. We then talked a bit about his truck and I rattled on how my husband was a truck driver and whatnot. They explained what they were doing every step of the way. I don't remember when I officially conked out, but woke up later to someone saying "you're all done now." It was said quietly. I also had gauze in my mouth and almost immediately had to go to the bathroom. Swanson's assistant told me I had to wait a few minutes before they could detach me. After one or two of waiting, her along with another assistant gently helped me off the chair, still with the IV attached, to the rest room. They both gently helped me sit down on the toilet and after I was done, helped me back onto the chair to rest. I was then given a blanket to cover me up while I rested. Hubby was then allowed to come back and see me to which the assistant told him I had done really well. She explained to him what I was supposed to do and made sure we had all the info before going home. My gauze was switched out before we left. The same assistant also helped me put my sandals back on. I'm to return in a week to check up on my progress and overall recovery. I have to say, after watching videos of people getting their wisdom teeth removed, I'm surprised with how little pain I have the next day after the procedure. The first day was painful considering how extensive it was, but due to what I can only assume to be Swason's skill, I was not sent home with headgear and I have very little pain that I can get away with taking Ibuprofen. I wasn't even in tears when I woke up and just felt really tired. I saw plenty of reviews complaining about Swanson's "bedside manners." Honestly, the guy was pretty cool with me and even during my first consultation with him, seemed pretty friendly. I highly recommend him as he is thorough and does not screw around. His assistants are lovely as well and they will give you an exact quote for how much you are to pay. There's no funny business with this place.

When I read the reviews of this office and the MD I was a bit leary but I went there with an open mind and wanted to develop my own opinion. Well I should have listened to the others. He is not very friendly. Doesn't seem to be concerned with the patient. Wants to just get in and out. The office personnel were very rude. Would not bill medicare because the said it won't cover it. I called medicare myself and was told they should bill and let medicare decide. Would not bill my secondary because they said if medicare don't cover it secondary won't. My secondary said that is not their decision to make. They will make that decision when they get the bill. Also was told to have and MRI. Never told any other instructions. Had the MRI done 4 days later. Never received a call from them. I have since went to someone else but on 2-11 which was 31 days after my appointment still had not had a call from them. When I called they said there must have been some commuication problems. … I seen that statement in some of the other reviews. Must be a common problem in that office. Just my opinion. You can choose to develop your own like I did.

It was slightly over 1 hour before I actually saw the dentist - and I was his first appointment after lunch! I asked him how long the recovery time would be for my procedure and he answered, "Oh - it doesn't take ME long to recover at all." He didn't ever answer my question. (If I want a comedian then I will go to a comedy club!) Needless to say, I will have my procedure done somewhere else. I have heard of other people having similar bad experiences in his office but his location was convenient. His actual work may be fine but he could definitely use some lessons in professionalism and courtesy. I have been a medical professional for over 25 years and have dealt with many other doctors and their offices - I will remember my experience with Dr. Swanson as one of the worst.

The staff is incompetent, rude and very unorganized. I will probably drive the 50 miles to the next closest oral surgeon before I go to this Dr again. The doctor himself lacks bedside manner but is good at what he does . It's a shame his staff is so unprofessional!

I've seen reviews on Dr Swanson that made me hesitant but I now understand that he isn't one to sit around and shoot the breeze with you and make other patients wait. I love that! He's efficient, knowledgeable, and confident. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful! 5+ stars!!

I was lucky enough to have had Dr. Swanson called in after my very bad car accident. Some see him as rude, he doesn't have the best bedside manner, but this man is a great surgeon! His follow up is amazing, he fights for his patients, what he may lack in sympathy he makes up for in skill. The reason I don't look like Frankenstein after only 1 initial surgery is because of this man. Great doctor.
