Dr. Jay Joseph Yamin, MD

Professional and thorough doctor. Great communicator. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a GI doctor.

Was able to get in with Dr Jay Yamin (there are TWO GI Dr. Yamin!) rather quickly. He was considerate and very helpful. He took the time to listen to all my issues and came up with a plan that is working great. I had to call the office several times with updates, his staff is super nice, and Dr. Yamin always calls me back quickly.

Dr. Yamin correctly diagnosed my end stage liver disease and has guided me to take the steps towards liver transplantation. He always answers my phone calls/calls me back He is in constant contact with my primary care doctor and I have never felt ignored, I have always been a part of the team.

I went for a colonoscopy because I was having some GI problems a polyp was removed and biopsies taken all were negative for cancer. He said no follow up was needed. I continued to have symptoms and when I called the office was told to see my primary so I did,a cat scan was ordered and low and behold I have colitis as well as a cyst that will require surgery. His bedside manner is terrible and he doesn't listen to what you have to say. It's kinda like if it's not an obvious diagnosis than too bad for you he doesn't want to help.

I was misdiagnosed and after a colonoscopy there was no follow up he told me to talk to my primary physician and his bedside manner is deplorable

Dr. Yamin has done lots of testing but still not helping with my main issue, he keeps insisting there is nothing wrong and my hernia I went to him for is minor and no need for surgery however my PCP tells me its large, My Gerd specialist in boston said its big, and the ER says its is a good size and could be the cause of several of my symptoms. All I seem to get from Dr. Yamin is testing, being told hernia cannot cause symptoms I have (but online it describes every symptom I have is from the hernia) and there is nothing to be done but follow a diet and take antibiotics. My diet is dry toast and eggs which go right through so I can I follow that

Office staff is friendly but extremely unresponsive. Emails and messages are ignored. The doctor himself is not very insightful, and won't order testing unless pressed for a long time. Even then, he does not follow up with the patient, and I'm even sicker than I was when I first went to him-- which in my case was over 3 years ago.

Dr Yamin always took the time to return my calls and discuss the sensitive issues of my problem thoroughly and with great compassion. A breath of fresh air these days!
