Dr. Jay Stuart Zimmerman, MD

Dr Zimmerman is an excellent doctor ! Pat Dorvilus

I wrote a honest review after my first visit with Dr. Zimmerman. I really believed in this doctor. Like the other poster, when I called to make an appointment (as I had done many times) I was unhappy to hear that he packed up and left. I guess I misjudged this man after all.

When I first met this doctor I was amazed by his ability, to make you feel like you were indeed more than just a dollar sign to his pocket. He was such a great listener, really took time with you. Many thought he was the best thing to ever to come out of medical school. So you can imagine the many shocked patients he left behind, when he just up and left them, with no notice. I called to make and appointment and was told he was "long gone". No letter sent out, no phone call from his office staff, nothing. How could someone who seemed to care so much for his patients, just up and leave, with no explanation. Its not an answer I'm sure we will ever be privy to, I'm certain of that. Its sad, that he thought so little of his patients, he couldn't take the time to thank them for believing in him during his practice. Right now, I just find myself shaking my head, as I'm certain many others are doing. To leave us all on our own to find other doctors, not even caring about meds that were… needed for our conditions, is disgusting. I hope whatever the reason was, as to why he decided to walk, was worth it. He went from being the best MD, to someone of such disappointment not only as a doctor but also a human being.

I arrived for my first appointment with Dr Zimmerman, a bit nervous, but that all changed 2 seconds after he came out to the waiting area, big smile on his face and extended hand, introducing himself as Jay Zimmerman. He is a person who really does listen to you, not once cutting you off in mid-sentence and never once looked at his watch. He also is quick to tell you that if he can't find the reason behind your medical problem, he's not shy about asking for help from other doctors, which I find refreshing to say the least. As I said, I have just started with this doctor after wasting years with another who decided that if he can't see an image on an x-ray, then there can't be anything wrong with you..Medicine today has become so cold and I for one don't blame the insurance companies as some do. You will never get this feeling from Dr. Zimmerman.No matter how sick or scared you are going into his office, you walk away with a smile and hope, something I haven't experienced in many… years.The office team is just as caring.I know Old Saybrook has a winning team down there and it really is worth the drive from anywhere to meet this man.
