Dr. Jazmin Ivette Yepez Kuri, MD

Upon trying to explain my situation (seeking continuing medication management for a long held ADHD diagnosis and medication I have been taking for over 6 years), Dr. Yepez-Kuri interrupted me several times, to ask me point blank questions. After I answered her questions, she told me that what I had been doing for the past 5 years was dangerous, and accused me of intentionally abusing my medication. I am a private practice mental health counselor who specializes in clients with ADHD. The things she was telling me were factually incorrect, and when I reiterated what I was trying to explain to her when she was interrupting me, she become frustrated and angrily asked me why I had not told her this before, and accused me of lying. She also told me that I had concerning records that indicated heart problems (I do not), and when I challenged her about the test results, she deflected, and refused to explain herself. I have never felt less listened to or cared for by a medical professional

I am extremely disappointed in my care I received from Dr. Yepez Kuri. Instead of listening to my concerns, she proceeded to question me on exactly how much albuterol I was using, and how much I was planning to use. She kept repeating the same questions over and over, as though she either didn't hear my answers, wasn't listening, or was hoping l'd give a different answer. Dr. Yepez Kuri continually talked over me, even when I was asking her to stop so I could finish speaking. The visit felt like an interrogation more than a medical visit, and I walked away with a racing heart and physically shaking. I have never felt more dismissed or less cared for by a provider. Dr. Yepez Kuri has no place as a medical practitioner is she treats other patients as poorly as she treated me.

Dr Kuri is brilliant; that said, her focus is on your medical issues and not necessarily creating a new friend. I had the first immediate reaction as another patient, but put myself outside the personal affront and actually listened to her. In the past month of seeing her, she has addressed many issues that other providers have ignored for years! Her personality is all work; she takes her responsibility seriously. For my part, I would RATHER have a Dr that got things done...my friends are elsewhere!

This doctor does not listen to her patients opinions. She has you returning frequently for follow-up but you will only be allowed to discuss that specific problem and will have to make an appointment for any new problem. Her staff that worked with her all say the same thing regarding her "milking the system" and Bullheaded attitude. Lourdes Health network will love her for the money she is making them so she is probably getting lots of kudos from them. There's lots of good doctors that actually are worth your dollar but this is not one of them!
