Dr. Jean-Louis B. Salinas, MD

Dr. Salinas and his staff are unresponsive and lack responsibility. Routine medical requests and communications are ignored, and the only way to get in contact with staff members willing to advance and elevate requests is by incessantly calling the office until the staff becomes bothered enough to take action. Additionally, Dr. Salinas is eager to ignore standard concerns and practices well within the bounds of traditional primary care treatment and refer patients to costly healthcare providers under the guise of “referring patients to receive care from specialists”.

Probably the worst doctor I have seen in my life. He prescribed wrong dosage and wrong medication and flipped out on me when I explained it to him. He also prescribed an anti-depressant which I did not take and at that point, he was screaming; "I even take anxiety medication. If you don't do what I tell you to do, I can't be your doctor anymore. He never returned a phone call to me." Needless to say, I switched doctors

I went in for a med management appointment since another doctor I had been seeing at the practice for over a year left. Dr. Salinas didn't review my chart before meeting me, and had no idea why I was there. He insisted on gathering my entire medical/family history over again, even though it was right in front of him in the computer system, and then told me that he wouldn't be my doctor for med management because I needed to be treated by a specialist (for something that previously, and STILL can be treated by an internist). I asked him if he had a list of referrals and he proceeded to frantically call several places that he thought of off the top of his head and aggressively demand an appointment for me, all to no avail (I DID NOT ask him to do this). Every time he failed to get me an appointment, he would hang up and reiterate that I needed to be treated by a specialist because he was an internist and this is not what they do. He repeated this process at least 5 times and the tone in… which he repeatedly told me that he couldn't treat me because I needed a specialist, etc. sounded threatening, as though he had recommended I do this during several visits before, and I had ignored him (this was our first meeting). Finally after he couldn't make me an appointment (which I never asked him to do), he told me if I couldn't find a specialist before I needed a new prescription, I would either have to pay out of pocket to see a specialist or go to a hospital because he wouldn't help me. He claimed that no internists ever do med management for my condition which is patently false. When I tried to advocate for myself and tell him that I couldn't afford to pay out of pocket and there was a clear precedent of his colleague (who was an INTERNIST) treating me for a long time before that, he got up, started backing towards the door, opened it, interrupted me and told me that he had been with me for over an hour (entirely because of his agenda, not mine) and that he had other patients to see. I have never had a more hostile, demoralizing, dismissive interaction with a doctor in my entire life.

I really liked Dr. Salinas the first 2 times I saw him and we put a plan in place for the following visit. At that visit, he changed the plan completely putting me jeopardy from a prescription drug. Never returned my phone calls, screamed at me and told me, he couldn't be my dr if I didn't cooperate with him. He didn't listen to my explanation and his report to NYU was totally inaccurate. I will never be demeaned by a doctor again, as he did.

My partner was scheduled for an appointment on Friday, which was cancelled by his office and rescheduled for the following Monday at 10am. He arrived at the office to be told his appointment was again cancelled, in a text sent 10 mins before the appointment. They wanted to reschedule for 3 weeks later. His condition, which bordered in an emergency, was clearly conveyed at the outset, was deemed irrelevant in the face of his offices unconscionable ineptitude at scheduling. Dr. Salinas may be a fantastic doctor with flawless bedside manor, (my partner never got to find out) but his support team and dysfunctional internet appt. server is a mess. Get it together, you boobs.

Majored in bed-side manner. Couldn't imagine a more thorough or brilliant doctor.

Saw for the first time. Compassionate and gentle. Thorough. I'm happy with this choice.

He is the first doctor that has taken an honest interest in my son and is trying to help him.

Dr. Salinas is a very caring and passionate MD. He is thorough and always takes his time to ensure that I get the best care possible. If bedside manner is important to you I would highly recommend him. He is truely a gem.

He is a caring concerned doctor that does not pentalize you if you do not have insurance. He is truly a man of care. I am lucky to have found such a doctor.
