Dr. Jeanmarie Brigid Ruddy, MD

I have a factor V mutation and had 14 clots in my left leg and 8 in my right before a mutation like this was completely understood in 1991. Since that time my legs have slowly developed significant discoloration and starting to produce some pain. By the end of each day, they are ballooned. I need to slow this process down and Dr Ruddy came to us as a referral. She took her time explaining what was going on with my legs and what the next 5 years could look like if I didn't have a plan. She also put together a plan to slow the deterioration. I found her patient, engaging and able to talk well to a layperson.

My wife saw Dr Ruddy for a follow up from stints done by another doctor that had left the practice. I (also a doctor) went to the visit as well. Dr Ruddy was the rudest and most impatient doctor I had ever met. It was very obvious to us that she wanted to move to the next patient as soon as possible. She on numerous occasions belittled my wife and wouldn’t let my wife talk without interruption. She had ordered the wrong studies and wouldn’t admit to it, only blaming the staff. The ultrasound studies she ordered were already ordered twice previously. I asked if she would order the correct ultrasound studies and she said she would at the next visit in 3 months. I said that I would order them due to the fact that we live 3 hours away and she tried to belittle me. I asked why she didn’t review the chart before seeing my wife and she stated that she didn’t have the “resources” (time) to review them. I then became very angry and said that she shouldn’t be seeing patients then, and that we… would not be back and that this visit was a total waste of time. My wife approves this message as well.
