Dr. Jeanne Mary Edwards, MD

AVOID. I have been with Dr. Edwards purely because getting in with another neurologist is so hard. The very first time I went she ranted about the book I was reading and let me know all her personal political and religious views on the topic, totally unsolicited. I was pleased that she was able to diagnose a problem I’d been having for ages and address it with medication, so I stayed with her. Every single appointment she was brusk, didn’t remember me and clearly hadn’t read my file. She would also bring up politics and religion every single time. I don’t need to be served by someone with the same views but it was extremely intrusive. The last time I went she declared that not all humans deserve human deserve human rights and that was the last straw. I find it appalling that a medical professional holds that opinion but to declare it proudly…? I have requested a transfer to another neurologist after many years. I should’ve done it before now. She’s cruel to her staff, her office… staff turnover constantly, she has zero flexibility on time keeping (car crash? Don’t care; she’ll cancel your appt and never see you again. And, yes, I know someone she did that to), and she does not invite questions or discussion. She’s abrasive at best and I’m grateful to have had the nudge that finally pushed me over the edge. I’ve dreaded my appointments with her every time.

Dr is ok sent me for a bunch of test but getting results is like pulling teeth. I could nVery disappointed with office staff. went one day for a 7;30am ap0point ever get an afternoon appointment.

I was "fired" by Dr. Edwards, but not told I was no longer a patient until I requested a prescription refill 3 months after my last appointment. She refused to refill, stating when I called about it that I was no longer her patient. When asked for a reason, her office read from my record that my wife had been "upset" after my last visit. The office then said they would call in a 30-day prescription for me, but that I would have to contact my primary care physician for further help (I received no 30-day prescription!). My wife and I had been upset when we arrived for a scheduled visit 3 months ago. We had been caught in a rainstorm on our way to her office, and were unable to locate it. We phoned from a nearby shopping center and got instructions, and found we were 3 blocks away. When we arrived (5 minutes after our scheduled appointment time), our appointment had been cancelled and Dr. Edwards was already seeing another patient, which was estimated to take more than 1 hour. We… made another appointment then, and had to return a week or two later. During that appointment, Dr. Edwards was very "cool" towards us, but made to mention of refusing to see me again. She seems to be an angry, vindictive woman. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Staff & Doctor very cold. Am a professional myself & was appalled by the manner in which people are treated. Was a returning patient that was treated so rudely & without any consideration that I will be starting over with an entirely new doctor/office. There is more to patient care than just charts & diagnosis.

Dr. Edward's seems unstable. I have seen her yell at her staff. Her staff is almost always stressed out because of her.

Wonderful doctor! Dr. Edwards took the time to read my husbands chart before our visit, and then listen to him as he explained what he was dealing with. She was able to find things that had been looked over for months!

My doctor sent a referral over to her office and I have been waiting for over a month for an appointment. Called my doctors office and they have talked to Dr Edwards office on 5 documented occasions and sent over my info. So I called Dr Edwards office and they could not find anything on my referral. They were going to call my doctor and get the information. I called my doctors office after a couple of days and they have not heard from Dr Edwards office. Office staff is lousy. Don't recommend them.

If you want a Dr that tells you what to take, and what she thinks, without you being able to ask any questions (which makes her feel quite threatened!!), then she's the Dr. for you. But if you want a Dr. whom you can proactively discuss various treatment options with, so that you can be your best advocate; or a Dr. where you can ask about meds she wants you to take, and your concerns about certain meds and their side effects, then she is NOT the Dr. for you. She is one of those Drs whom is threatened by any questions or patient input; you simply do and take whatever she says to, no questions allowed or she will get VERY irritated, and act like your challenging her, rather than simply trying to ask various questions about your care options and meds!! She is autocratic and short-tempered if you try to ask questions; and is more like a just get-it-done business person, than a warm bedside manner Dr. I felt like I was simply another number to be treated...time's quickly up. My primary Dr… SO respects my questions and thoughts...in fact, my primary Dr wants me to be my best advocate and to play a role in my own care; was very disappointed that Dr. Edwards is exactly the opposite! Miss my old neurologist I had when we lived in another state. I have no desire for this kind of automated medical care that Dr Edwards has shown (and I've given her quite a number of appts., to try and she if she'd maybe just had some off days). I must have a role in my own care and feel free to ask questions without the dr feeling threatened; NOT my kind of Dr.!!

Was told to be here by a certain time and sat waiting for 30 minutes. For someone with such a strict "on-time" policy, I feel things should have went a little smoother than they did.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I wasted a month trying to get into see this Dr. I had a referral from JOHNS HOPKINS of all places, that I sent into them. Was told they would call back to schedule. A week went by, never heard from them so I called- "were still working on it, try again in another week." called back next week- "we had over half of our staff change and are playing catch up. we have your referral, just give it more time." I then asked how long she was booking out so I could at least know, and they told me that since I was a referral it would be sooner, but that they do take non-referral patients too. Another week went by, nothing. called again- "we'll look into that, ill leave your info with the referral nurse." Never heard back from them.. Called again several days later- talked to referral nurse, who informed me they DID NOT have my referral. They blamed it on the staff change, but still unacceptable. So I handed my referral IN PERSON the next day. Then was called and informed… the Dr denied my referral and wouldn't see me, with NO explanation. How is a referral from Johns Hopkins NOT good enough?! I told her I didn't understand why I couldn't be seen since they take non-referrals too and she said that this was wrong, they didn't take non-referrals and that whoever told me that was probably "new." I was assured the whole time they were "working on my referral" and wasted over a month when I could have probably already gotten into another doctor. With a staff and office that is managed this terribly, you should NOT trust this doctor with your life.
