Dr. Jeffrey Scott Aronowitz, MD

Walking into a psychiatrist appointment and being treated so unbelievably rude and disrespectful by the front desk receptionist which I later found out to be the doctors wife was so disturbing. If this appointment wasn't a requirement for me I would've walked out at "Why are you here? What do you want?" after i said "Good morning Ma`am, how are you?". Regardless of what your day or personal life my be filled with, being a polite, caring, and a kind individual goes a long way. Just be a good human to others cause you have no idea what the other person is going through. Reading all the comments from other web sources, this behavior of the receptionist has been an issue for years.

Terrible, just terrible.

Dr. Aronowitz totally lacked empathy when we spoke. He was aloof and cold as I told him about my struggles, and openly judged me for the choices I had made. I felt unclean as I left the office. I went looking for an empathetic ear and came back traumatized. He was open in his condescension toward my problems, and he acted as if all I had to do was put my chin up. I question his professionalism. Anyone educated in psychiatry should know the importance of empathy and ACTUALLY DOING HIS JOB. To crown it all, he doesn't take regular NYS insurance. If you don't have a Mercedes and a desire to be abused, find another psychiatrist.

It was difficult at the last meeting to discern who was the doctor and who was the patient. I don't like to think about the anger he exhibited. I am ashamed to have taken my family member to see him. We never really felt safe there, always on edge, but the last visit replays itself over and over. You shouldn't have to seek out therapy to recover from trauma of visiting a psychiatrist

This doctor is extremely unprofessional yet also condescending and arrogant. He prescribed anti-psychotic medication in high levels when it was clearly unnecessary which lead me to having severe episodes of akathisia, and make me highly suicidal. He also is terrible at communicating with patients, considering our last meeting ended with him telling me to metaphorically "pull the trigger", which could obviously be misconstrued by someone with mental illness. I've had a far better experience with my general practitioner than this doctor, which is definitely worth noting.

My husband saw Dr several years ago. We highly recommend. Only reason we are not seeing him now is because we moved.

Danger to vulnerable population

If your looking for a doctor to coddle you and enable you to continue destructive behaviors, do not go to see Dr. Aronowitz. If you want a knowledgeable physician who requires you to take control of your life and take personal responsibility then Dr. Aronowitz is for you. I much rather have a doctor who is real than one who is fake.

pretentious,. arrogant, barely competent . Educated in a Carribean school and it shows. Terrible diagnostician, sterile, unfriendly manner. The most unpleasant psychiatrist I have ever met. His receptionist is one of the rudest, nastiest people one could possibly encounter in a doctor's office. The worst physician experience of my life.

Dr Aronowitz is very kind and insightful. He does take the time to listen, and to respond to questions. I am grateful that he is in practice. His office is welcoming and every effort is made to ensure privacy.
