Dr. Jeffrey John Barigian, MD

My granddaughter was accosted by a "crazed" homeless man while downtown by the waterfront. He pushed her into a hard object causing injury to her foot. She was in great pain! Moreover she was terrified by the ordeal. Clearly she needed an x-ray to determine if there was any serious injury to the foot. My son-in-law is also a physician who used to work at MedCenter and highly recommended we go there for x-rays. It was around 4:30 when we got there. We were acknowledged right away by very caring staff. I kept seeing who I thought was a nurse who was very engaged with each and every patient. Coming from a medical background (I being a respiratory therapist and my former husband being a physician who ran two EDs here in SB) my experience is that the physician in charge usually spends as little time as possible with patients, leaving that chore to the minions. Let me just say I was surprised and very pleased to see "the doctor" walk through the exam room door! He wasn't a nurse!… This caring man was the doctor! He was gentle, kind, and more importantly empathetic to my granddaughter's experience! He took time with her. There was neither a break nor a fracture, but the biggest injury was to her trust of people. She was emotionally rattled! Dr. Barigian understood that and was sensitive to her experience. Unfortunately, way too many doctors blow off these sorts of things furthering and adding insult to injury. I am so very glad we chose MedCenter over an ER. I highly recommend this place and in particular Dr. Barigian! Thank you to all the staff as well! You turned a bad experience into a positive one!

Dr Barigian was my primary physician for about 5 years. He was always attentive, listened to my concerns and I had the utmost trust in his care and abilities. I considered him my friend as well as my physician and I was extremely sad when he relocated to Santa Barbara.
