Dr. Jeffrey Scott Barton, MD

A very good doctor. Not a stuffed shirt and knows his stuff.

First, Dr. Barton is now practicing in Portland, Oregon. Last month he performed a procedure on me and I feel very lucky to have gotten him as my surgeon. In the pre-op appointment he patiently explained the options, the procedure, and the recovery, taking all the time necessary to go over what he had already planned to tell me plus my questions. Because it was a major surgery, I got a second opinion, and then Dr. Barton returned my call after hours to discuss what the other dr. had said. Dr. Barton really knows his stuff and can tell you the statistics on all the possible complications, etc. The surgery went perfectly, the scars are minimal and I have had no complications at all. In addition to being a very thorough, patient and skilled doctor, Dr. Barton has a great sense of humor and a lot of personality, both of which help establish trust when you're having to put your health in the hands of a virtual stranger.

Horrible. He is arrogant and doesn’t tell you everything, when asking questions ABOUT YOURSELF, mind you, it routinely greeted with 1.) a rolling of the eyes; 2.) answers that belittle the patient & is insulting at the same time- ‘“why don’t you just let me do my job & let me worry about it’ ! As of to say, I’m too arrogant & immature & selfish to take the time THAT YOU DESERVE TO HAVE - AND to also give you the respect you are deserving of by sitting with you and when you have no more questions, we’ll be done’ Yeh, LIKE THAT. I mean, he’s actually so bad & so arrogant & so blatant about it THAT HE REALLY COULD CARE LESS THAT HOW HE BEHAVES MAKES IT UNDENIABLE & SO GLARINGLY OBVIOUS THAT YOU CANT NOT SEE HIM FOR WHAT HE TRULY, REALLY IS MADE UP OF ON THE INSIDE; No sign of any sincere interest AT ALL IN ANYBODY- and that just blows my mind!!!He may as well tell you ‘I am way to much of a snob because of what I am and will only look down on you - the patient-; ME: I AM HERE, UP… HERE, UP HIGH ….you all are down here. So I see myself as just too above you to care to even explain anything to you. It’s too much trouble for me to have to come down to your level and explain thing using words a kid uses because you don’t know medical terminology! It’s too much of an ask for me to be expected to have the patience to ‘FILL YOU IN’ to a point where you walk out of my office knowing exactly what is happening & knowing exactly what the ‘after’ post op, recovery period looks like - paint a picture of what typically ‘this’ looks like for most - not all, but generally the majority of patients who have this procedure is going on He really really REALLY IS AN AWFUL, HORRIBLE, SNOBBY (and why he sees himself as lofty, I can’t even begin to figure how a person like him could ever see himself as having any obvious reasons noticeable at all, something about them is an obvious explanation of why they think they can behave that way. I got nothing. He is looking in a different mirror through altered lenses. Bottom line: spare yourself being subjected to someone who’ll end up a doctor in a position of being the needed & unless something about you makes you appear to be more than the common folk he resents that his job requires him to interface with you and has to acknowledge your presence in front of him. You WILL BE INSULTED AND DISRESPECTED AND HE WILL NOT CARE THAT HE IS SHOWING WHAT AND WHO HE REALLY IS! That is THE ‘thing’ he just truly DOES NOT CARE. Period. So, unless you’re masochistic, bad treatment and your dignity gone because of all the attitude you’ll end up having to swallow… because he is the doctor… do not go.

I was very scared of having this procedure because of the horrible experience of others; however mine went very well with no complications thanks to Dr. Barton. My f/u appointment with him, which was a week later I was doing even better. No one could even tell that i just had surgery. Now six weeks out, I am resuming normal activities. I rate Dr. Barton a 10 out of 10!
