Dr. Jeffrey Eric Caplan, MD

I would not even give this one star if I could; I went to Dr. Caplan for breast surgery after getting a mastectomy on one side. To begin, he was very unprofessional; he was constantly on his phone with his wife whenever I had a meeting with him. He also asked me if I wanted to have pictures of the work he did, which I said no because this was basically surgery to repair the trauma I dealt with due to breast cancer, however, right before surgery, when I was half out of it, he took a picture of me, and there is no telling what he did after the surgery when I was still under. Also, as for the work done; he told me that in order for my breasts to look more even, I should get the other one enlarged a bit so that it would match the "perkiness" of the other completely fake breast. The other healthy breast now has a large amount of scarring on it from the work he did around the nipple area. Also, when I went into his office to complain after the procedure and was crying in his office… because of it, he didn't even seem to care in the slightest. Finally, the procedure he suggested was to just go in and put the implant in on the mastectomy side without trying to stretch the skin or anything first which is usual procedure; the result of that was for 2 days straight afterwards, it literally hurt to breath because of the pressure from the skin being so tight after the surgery. This was an extremely painful experience both mentally and physically for me, and I think it is important to share this information to warn others before considering this type of treatment from him.

Our daughters had a bi lateral mastectomy and Dr. Caplan performed the reconstruction. She did not want to go home "flat". Dr. Caplan performed the reconstruction immediately after the mastectomy so she could come home looking an feeling like a woman. His follow up throughout the healing process was meticulous.Today she looks great in a bikini and is cancer free.

Dr Jeffrey Caplan aka butcher horrible after 2 years went to get reconstruction implant looked on line he took my insurance never warned me about complications every thing will be fine already in remission 2 years plus from cancer 12 surgeries later made worse in hospital not clean when examining would not recommend 3 years later trying to heal wound, funny but not was at wound care doctor today and nurse had a patient that went to him who messed her up and another friend went for his hand a few years ago made worse please beware seriously

This individual advertises as a hand surgeon, in addition to cosmetic surgery, but is not a board certified hand surgeon. I saw him for the removal of a lot of cysts on my fingers. Dr. Caplan took personal phone calls before and DURING my procedure, left the room, touched several things, and didn't change gloves. He talked non-stop about himself and how great a doctor he is while doing the surgery. He is always late for appts, (verified by staff), rushed my surgery because of poor scheduling (waiting area full), and never completely removed cysts on two fingers. Still have pain. Very poor follow up care instructions, as well, resulting in necessary loss of work. Wife had negative experience, as well, for carpal tunnnel issue. Immediately recommended surgery for minor symptoms...no less aggressive treatment suggested. Do not recommend him.

After months I Decided to go to my plastic surgeon who did my carpal surgery without any problems or issues... Dr. Kaplan and I'm soooo happy I'm healing now and have been since my first visit for this problem.Thank you Dr. Kaplan!??

Very understandingh and explains everything kind and spends time with pt I could not ask for anything more he is so kind and considerate.

Terrible & dismissive & rude

I am glad I went to Dr. Caplan. I had an unsightly keloid/cyst and the doctor did an excellent job removing it. Of course, anyone who suffers from keloids knows there's a chance it may grow back but there are ways to treat it post-surgery so it doesn't. Dr. Caplan is very GENTLE and CARING. I can only speak regarding my own experience but if you want a doctor who not only cares about his patients but is an awesome surgeon as well, then he's the one :)

I went to Dr Caplan for a breast reduction last year (May 2010) and I'm very pleased with the results. Dr Caplan is competent and caring and took the time to explain the procedure to me and address all in my questions in a patient and unassuming manner. His office staff was great in helping me navigate insurance and other issues and they were always polite and responsive. I recommend Dr Caplan's services to any one who might be in need of them.
