Dr. Jeffrey Robert Carlson, MD

I am a 69 year old female. With a 4, 5, 6 and 7 lumbar vertebral fusion. Dr. Carlson and his staff exceeded my expectations for healthcare workers that I have encountered in life so far! Their bedside manner, detailed explanations and overall concern for my well being brought me peace during this stressful procedure. Dr. Carlson did not make me feel rushed throughout the process. He was incredibly reassuring and explained the procedure and what to expect post-op in great detail. I had 4 vertebrate fused and during surgery he took the initiative to attend to some arthritic issues that he believed would aid in my recovery. It is obvious that Dr. Carlson has valuable skills that exceed most in his field. He showed me respect as his patient and his only concern was making sure I felt better. The warmth in his concern made me realize he truly loves what he does. After a long road of consulting with other doctors, having various procedures, and often being in miserable pain, Dr.… Carlson was the one to finally resolve my issues. I am now pain free after 3 years of suffering. It’s rare to find a surgeon that exceeds all expectations! Thank you Dr. Carlson, I am beyond grateful to you and your awesome staff!

Dr. Carlson has been an excellent surgeon for me. Two ACDFs with excellent results. C4-C7 & C7-T1. My perspective is this: Medical (anatomical and physiological) abnormalities, which require correction to ensure the potential to live a normal life, often need necessary surgeries. So, in electing to undergo a surgery you need to be sure that your surgeon is highly trained, skilled and knowledgeable. In doing my due diligence, all the Physicians/Surgeons with whom I spoke gave glowing recommendations for Dr. Carlson's skills. Thus, I felt assured in choosing him as my surgeon; but it is upon meeting with him and discerning his qualities that my assurance turned to comfort. All of my surgeries were smooth. The entire team at OSC and Mary Immaculate are professional (efficient and mannerly). … Look, I never entered into my surgeries with an expectation of returning to a 100% normal functioning, compared with the baseline prior to my symptoms onset. However, my pain and mobility are outstanding (granted, everyone's mileage will differ). I can box, lift, do Yoga, and my daily life activities are not as inhibited as before. What I like most about Dr. Carlson is that he listens and takes the time to address all my concerns, even if they are questions of curiosity, and he always makes sure all modalities that support your recovery and health are implemented. A Dr's time is severely limited, but Dr Carlson even takes the time to have a normal conversation with you. He's real and has a good sense of humor as well. I am happy and grateful to have him as my surgeon.

Dr. Carlson is moving a mile a minute. He comes in and out so fast you don't have time to think about what's going on. Me personally, I was told by the doctor that right after surgery I would be up walking again and feel no more pain but the complete opposite happened...I was hurt worse than before and laid up in bed for 6 weeks after surgery. I haven't been the same since and still have back problems almost 10 years later.

Dr. Carlson did my surgery & after surgery at my appointments he rushes through & doesn't seem to be very caring like other Dr's. Especially after having to wait in the waiting room for so long once he's in the room he's never there but a couple minutes & doesn't seem to want to listen to my questions & concerns. If I ever have to have surgery again I'll never go back to him. If you want a caring & understanding Dr don't go to him.

I have taken my daughter to see Dr Carlson several times for sports related injuries. I have confidence in his diagnosis. He relates well to my daughter and she respects his opinions on what she can continue to do at practice and what should be avoided.
