Dr. Jeffrey Steven Chalfant, DO

I was a patient of Dr Chalfant several years ago. Because I’ve been trying to organize my medical records for personal reasons, I’ve had to request records from about 10 different healthcare providers. I started by by sending out HIPAA compliant letters to each provider. So Dr. Chalfant got a letter as well, I received no response. I followed up by phone a month later, had to leave a voicemail. No response. Finally reached the office today and Allison stated that the doctor has made a decision to override the patient’s rights to have their medical records. This is not accurate. In rare cases mental health providers can elect to not give patients their records if it is decided that it may cause harm to the patient. But the provider is in violation of one of the three HIPAA rules by deciding in advance to never give out patients records. Allison was not willing to discuss this with me, was condescending in her approach to me. I had no alternative than to report this to the HHS, OCR.

Dr Chalfant added a medication that helped. But I wonder if he is only interested in making money. I had a telephonic appointment due to the Covid pandemic. The office called two minutes ahead of time but I missed the call. I returned the call literally within 2 minutes and was told that I would have to reschedule as the doctor had moved on to the next client. At the next appointment I addressed the issue with the doctor and he told me that he wasn't going to discuss it with me and that I could find another doctor if I didn't like it. I think this is unreasonable and shows a lack of respect. Be prepared because they routinely call ahead of the scheduled appointment time and they will move on if you don't answer when they call.

If you want a psychiatrist who absolutely does not care about you, go for him. We never complain about medical professionals cos we thought their jobs are hard enough, but he's definitely one of the worst. Don't want to get into the detail but all in all is he doesn't f care!

I am very sorry I ever was a patient of his! He claimed to not know what the problem may be,but he knew it wasn't what I brought up to him and the psychologist in office told me all about her add and how she takes adderall. The fact I was tense around her and I didn't get 8 hours a sleep a night! Um yah??? I feel worse than ever and cannot find affordable psychiatric treatment since really sucks

I have been in contact with the ACLU, I was in a huge crisis, my son had passed, and I needed to see him, his SECRETARY decided I was not in crisis and the doctor was not there, I showed up for another appt 8 am, she told me the computers were down and I could not see the doctor. My husband called them and talked to the secretary and she told him, "She did not seem like she was in crisis, since when do office workers decide when a psychiatric patient is in crisis, is this how you run your business, Jeffrey????. You better retire, I am taking this as far as I can and I have talked to the ACLU already, no one treats me less than because I have PTSD! No one treats me like that especially a snobby secretary. I am coming to get you, you will be hearing from my lawyers, yes plural.

My wife saw Dr. Chalfant for three sessions. From the start of the first session, to the end of the third and final session, he showed absolutely no emotion or empathy. At this last session, my wife was crying and asking for help and he just said he can't help her and she needs a different doctor because he won't see her anymore. This is after he already knows she is suicidal....great job doc....NOT!!! He does not like being challenged and seems more concerned with how long you are in there wasting his time then he does in actually trying to help you. Don't bother bring any problems up to him....he will tell you he is not a counselor or therapist....he doesn't care. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS MAN, HE IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE AT HIS JOB!!! I can say this confidently as I know of two other people that have gone to him and say the exact same thing about him. It is horrible to know that doctor's like this are out there in a position where people are at their most… vulnerable and he just doesn't care, or if he does, he has absolutely no idea how to emote that. My wife is still crying because she feels like she did something wrong to be treated with such disregard from this man....just what she needs....to feel like SHE is the one that did something wrong because of a doctor who seems more bothered to have to be at work than actually helping his patients.

I saw dr chalfant. He was nice but I had to cancel an appointment with him and apparently that's frowned on. I left a message and got a call back saying I need to cancel with a live person. It's impossible to get a live person. I've called to reschedule but haven't heard back. That's ok. Going elsewhere.

Very rude at times and unfriendly. Need some new blood in there and training on customer service, their horrible.

Just saw dr chalfant. He asked numerous questions and seemed to be a caring doctor. I was happy with the visit.

This doctor makes no effort to listen and empathize with his patients mental condition. Any type of feedback concerning any aspect of your condition falls on deaf ears. Simply he does not care or show any care for his patients. If your looking for a psychiatrist for the first time, do not see him, he is by far the worst I've ever experienced.
