Dr C has performed 3 Total Ankle Replacements for me and I wouldn't go to anyone else. After being told in 2008 by an orthopedic surgeon in Seattle that he had done all that he could, fusing the foot, and that the foot needed to be amputated, I was placed in an Arizona Boot. Researching ankle ankle replacements at the time showed promise on the STAR, but it was only available in Europe at that time. In 2010 the FDA started studies in the STAR and Dr C was one of 5 ankle surgeons in the USA selected for the study. When I told him at our first meeting what the orthopedic doctor said, he replied "amputation means that I failed you." After FDA approval in 2012 he replaced my ankle with a STAR. When I told him what the orthopedic doctor said " amputation means that I failed you." In 2015 the plastic bearing failed and I had to have a Revision done to repair the defective part. In 2023 the revised STAR bearing started disintegrating and he removed the STAR and implanted an in-bone… replacement. Today I am still walking on my own two feet, thanks to Dr C and thankful that I didn't listen to the surgeon in 2008.
