Dr. Jeffrey G Cohen, MD

He is the BEST doctor I have EVER had. He saved my life. He was on vacation the week I was hospitalized with viral encephalitis. He came in every morning to care for me, even though on vacation. He cared for me for 12 years. His move from his office was a heartbreak for me and my family. Highly recommend him to anyone.

Had been seeing him for years. Called to make an appointment and was told that he doesn't work there anymore. How dare a doctor just split and not give any explanation. A postcard with maybe the name of another doctor. He should lose his status from all institutions!!!

He was nice, caring and listened to my problems. He also asked about my family, how I was feeling and he was very observant of me. He explained the type of epilepsy I had. I was a patient of Dr. Cohen since my late teens. Now, I am in my middle thirties and I was still seeing Dr. Cohen until he left. He was a GREAT neurologist and I would recommend him.

When I first saw Dr. Cohen in 2004 he was great. He successfully changed my medication to get my seizures under control. However in recent years I found him to be rude and condescending. I don't know what happened but I now see a different neurologist.

I transferred to Dr. Cohen from a different neurologist who, it turned out, was out of date and had me on a horrible sedative after my sleep-deprived seizure. Dr. Cohen gave me a different medication and after getting my history even told me there was the possibility that my seizure activity would end eventually (unlike my other doctor who said I would be on medication the rest of my life). Well guess what. We tracked my seizure activity and it indeed ended. I am no longer on medication. He is very matter of fact and direct, which I appreciated.

I had been a patient of Dr. Cohen for a number of years until i moved out of state. He is wonderful and wish I could have taken him with me.

This guy prescribed anti seizure drugs that I later found out that I never needed these drugs i don't have epileply

I have been having bad pain in my head.Yes he is very rude and sarcastic. I needed to see another specialist, he recommended someone that would have been impossible to get to. He said if he does not take insurance to have him call dr. Cohen and he would help. P.S. He gave me meds that made me Sick, I tried to reach him, couldn't. Left a message and he did not return my call. How do you believe anything he would say. They lost my MRI results and had to travel to get a copy. Very disorganized and plenty of sarcazim. Secretary is another issue.

Dr Cohen is rude and condescending. I almost walked out after meeting him for two minutes. No people skills. Only good reviews must be from friends. I don't know who would go back to see him. No wonder I got an appt to see him in under a week. I honestly don't know how he is a dr. Not sure who would return to see him. From the minute he started asking ques he would rudely interrupt me. Then he would make condescending remarks. I am disappointed in myself for not walking out on him. I never write reviews on things but had to for this one. Waited 2 months to see a legit nuerologist at mt sinai. What a completely different experience. Go there.

I was admitted to Beth Israel Hospital back in late 09 by my primary neurologist and put specifically under Dr. Cohens care. When I was there I requested that Dr. Cohen and his team touch base with my neurologist to get an idea of my care plans (which they never did). I was not treated well by him or his team. For little things like them not changing my Asthma inhaler Symbicort (which I had been using for 2 years) to Advair was a struggle (a medication I used before but did not work, I was told asthmatics admitted to the hospital were put on this regardless of what they took at home 0.o). I was kept in the hospital for overnight EEG and was discharged the next day. None of the treatment I discussed with my primary neurologist was ever implemented. Upon discharge I spoke with Dr. Cohen and asked him what was going on. He said, I had migraines (I knew that already) and pushed two prescriptions in my hand. I asked him what about the treatment, what was the point of coming to the… hospital and what am I supposed to do when I have my migraine symptoms? He told me, Go for a walk!!! I was shocked at his crassness. I wasnt sure if the man was mocking my condition or if he was really being serious and did not understand what was going on with me. I have a type of migraine called Hemiplegic migraine, which causes paralysis on one side of the body, confusion as well a myriad of other symptoms. That makes it impossible for me to walk when I was having and active episode. When I continued to have Hemipleic migraine episodes upon discharge, he sent in some student physician to tell me I should see a psychiatrist. Needless to say I find his bedside manner lacking; he barely listened to my symptoms or my health history. Which maybe if he did have he would have realized that I had a very rare form of migraine. That should be treated differently than other migraine types. As others have stated he seemed really rushed and just wanted to push meds.
