Dr. Jeffrey J Dekret, MD

Glad to finally be able to write this comment. I have not been a patient of Dr. Dekret for at least five years. All of that time we tried balancing different meds to cure my anxiety and depression. These are things my general practitioner can take care of. I had other conditions one of which is gastroparesis. He did not know what this is and I spent many appointments explaining it to him. I realize that is not his fault as I learned that this condition is not explained or taught in med school and therefore positions do not value the condition, value the symptoms, value the patients. These are not my words they are the words of Dr. Thomas Abell, Who until recently led efforts at a G.I. motility clinic at University of Kentucky and Louisville I believe he is now retired in any case, My feeling is that many of Dr. Dekret’s patients lied to him perhaps to get meds for grabs for other reasons and therefore he is very skeptical and very suspicious of anything you tell him I’m more likely… than not you will spend appointment after appointment explaining the same thing over and over to him as if he’s trying to catch you in a lie, it reminds me of any type of “CSI” s my feeling is that many of Dr. Dekret‘s patients lied to him perhaps to get meds for grabs for other reasons and therefore he is very skeptical and very suspicious of anything you tell him and more likely than not you will spend appointment after appointment explaining the same thing over and over to him as if he is trying to catch you in a lie, it reminds me of any type of “CSI“ show where they question any potential perpetrator over and over trying to poke holes in their timeline. I wasted a lot of time in Dr. Dekret‘s office. I will say that his office staff is very nice but speaking for myself and only for myself I can say that Dr. Dekret was a little or no help to me and I saw him regularly for more than five years perhaps even closer to seven or eight years along with a psychologist! A lightbulb should have gone off in my head so I take full responsibility for continuing treatment with there HCPs and I would advise anyone who is not improving after a year of intensive psychological and psychiatric care to re-evaluate. When I left Dr. Dekret‘s practice I basically ghosted him not once did I get a call asking where I was or how I was doing. Even my hairdresser calls me if two months go by. I was told by the person who referred me to him that he really cares about people. I went to him because I respected that person’s opinion however I now have my own opinion. I guess that is progress… So maybe he helped me after all?
