Dr. Jeffrey Michael Dorf, MD

The Pulmonologist I originally went to when I was 1st diagnosed with COPD was horrible. He was rude and often made my cry. I have been seeing Dr. Dorf for several years now. He is kind, compassionate, very thorough and professional. He always takes the time to answer all my questions. I never feel rushed. When reviewing my test results, he explains them in a way that I can understand. I'm extremely grateful for his care and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to family or friends.

I don't care how good a doctor is, when they treat me like a criminal, fail to even scan over the medical history their staff has collected, act surprised to find out the reason a patient was referred, makes inappropriate comments about sex and then gets offended when the patient fires back with a response to such comments: The answer is go find another doctor. Even the friend who came along to help me (I was unable to walk more than a few steps on my own at the time) was infuriated by his treatment of me.

Dr. Dorf gives you his complete attention while you're with him. You never feel rushed in anyway. He provides excellent explanations of his thoughts about your condition and his medical recommendations. I feel grateful to have found him!

Do you want a doctor who's nice or a doctor who knows what he's doing?

Each annual exam he is the same with me. He walks in with a bad mood, bad outlook on situations, and a very terrible bedside manner. He needs an attitude adjustment! Looking for a better pulmonary doc.

Amazing doctor, has taken me from an uncontrolled multi faceted Asthma patient who walked around wheezing like darth vader at 30, to a person who can BREATH even though I have multiple comorbidities, with back up plans for any breathing situation. I have a very rare version of EDS (type 7) and it took me almost 10 years to get diagnosed but Dr. Dorf saw it in a few minutes and even brought it up to me. Told me it was "a rare disease but not one you ever forget from school." He is extremely intelligent. He was even interested enough to do extra research so he could help me treat my specific version of asthma with the difficulties added by the EDS/POTS. Either him or his partner are available as there is always a doctor on call if you have breathing problems and his partner Dr. Cory Hicks, is also extremely nice and seems to be very patient focused. His staff is always willing to bump up an appointment if you're having difficulties or if they don't have a spot open will send a message to… the doc or his nurse Jen. I couldn't be happier with how I've been treated as a patient at Chest Med of NM.

Basically Dr Dorff is just a pharmaceutical rep with a MD license with a for profit clinic........His degree from the university of Guadalajara about sums it up .

Dr. Dorf may be missing a sensitivity chip in my opinion. Patients and patient's family members are most likely not pulmonary specialists ,like Dr. Dorf, so when questions are asked concerning our family and their condition it only seems right to address their questions with respect and sincerity. "I don't have a crystal ball" is not an appropriate response. Of course you don't - but you are a doctor and a specialist. We don't normally spend our time in hospitals but when we do it's for a serious and close to our heart reason. You don't need to sit with us all day everyday but a little more effort on your part to communicate vital information may do the trick. Kindness is contagious, I promise. A high spirit is a healing one.

I have been seeing Dr. Dorf for 10 years. He was referred to me by my pulmonologist in Atlanta who had known him in Chicago years ago. He is both compassionate and effective in his management of patients, many of whom have multiple co-morbidities. While he is always overworked, he makes time to listen to his patients' questions and respond to them with consideration and understanding. When I had an issue that I felt needed to be addressed, I wrote him a letter explaining to him how I felt. At my next visit, he was apologetic, and even though we still had different opinions, he accepted my thoughts and feelings graciously. He has a very dry sense of humor that is sometimes misunderstood by patients that are new, or do not know him very well. I will always be grateful to my doctor in Atlanta for referring me to him, and to him for his excellent care and concern for my health and well-being. Thank you so much!!
