Dr. Jeffrey Bruce Hoogstra, MD

This Doc is very lazzaifare about giving children the help they need. My 2-month-old son had been screaming for six hours a day, throwing up continually, and coughing up blood. While my son was lying on the examining table, he urped up a tablespoon of clear liquid. I pointed out how he had been doing this frequently. Dr. Hoogstra said, "Well, babies do spit-up frequently." Oh, really? I had was raising two children already, but I guess he thought I was too stupid to know that babies spit-up. Well, we ended up in the emergency room a few days later because my son coughed up blood again. It turns out that he had reflux and the clear liquid he was spitting up was stomach acid. It was eating at his esophagus and that is why I was finding blood splatters in his crib. He was put on Prevacid and within three days, he was a totally different child. No more screaming and spitting up blood. This is only one of many similar experiences with this doctor and with this practice. We… switched to a different doctor in the practice and she turned out to be even more rude and condescending. The doctors at this practice do not understand that moms and dads know their own children best and that we often have insight and knowledge that they should respect.

I am leaving this doctor after 10 years. He failed to recognize the cause of my son's athsma attacks, surprisingly after his interests WERE athsma. I had to demand a referral for allergy testing and proper training of how to handle inhalers. I am currently unhappy because after 7 years of clues, he still doesn't believe our son's diagnosis of Autism. We took our son, on our own accord, to get tested at the top facility in the area. He failed to help me change medications to help my son's symptoms of anxiety. I'm very unhappy with this office. I don't care for Dr. Taylor, either. He missed pneumonia AND a severe ear infection! Patty in the office is rude and unfriendly- time to retire!
