Dr Hyams took charge and saved my son’s life.

Dr. Jeffery Hyams is the best doctor I have ever had. I am a 11 year old kid from near Hartford and he saved my life. Thank you Dr. Hyams

Dr. Hyams has a very poor bedside manner. His ego is sky high, he's extremely arrogant, and is so sure to tell you what you don't have without running proper tests, and listening to the patient. Very confrontational when questioning the diagnosis he gave, and boasted about being "top 5 in the world". Not only did he talk himself up, but he bashed another Dr., which was completely wrong, and unprofessional. People think he comes across with a relatively gruff exterior, and I couldn't egress more. Aside from this, patient was hospitalized for abdominal pain, the hospital contacted him, and his exact words were "I have no suggestion". It's amazing how the tables turn from "I want to help and make you better" to "I got nothing" in the matter of a single visit. Come to find out, patient was severely constipated and on the verge of being obstructed. A GI missing something this simple, picked up by a simple X-ray from another Dr., in a different specialty is unacceptable. He may be top 5 for… Crohns, but is negative five for anything else GI related, especially getting to the bottom of the problem, let alone helping the patient feel better. I would not recommend Dr. Hyams at all, its the equivalent of talking to a brick wall. Save yourself the time, and money and look elsewhere, or prepare yourself for many road blocks on your GI journey.

Dr. Hyams saved my boy's Life. He accurately diagnosed IBD syndrome and directed us to the appropriate care solution for my Son. I would recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat. He is the best Doctor in the tri-state area for his specialty.

A gentleman of great knowledge, willing to share what he knows. Most caring towards children; takes time to listen to them...and parents. Proactive, yet sensible. Surrounded by genuinely caring office staff. We are most thankful.

Dr. Hyams is on the ball, the best doctor in the field. He has worked miracles for me and my Colitis. I cant imagine where I'd be without him.

My son was diagnosed with a most severe case of UC. He was admitted to CT Children's Medical Center (a great hospital) and a medical care plan was created and executed. At the same time, I was educating myself about UC and every time I brought up a new study or trial, Dr. Hyams knew about it and discussed it with us. But when my son's health started to deteriorate, he took full charge and scheduled surgery. Time had run out. He may be abrupt sometimes, but that's only because he knows what the patient is up against and has the patient's well-being as his highest priority. I highly recommend Dr. Hyams.

My son had a weird combination of symptoms that no one could figure out. Hyams and his team listened to me and amazingly figured out my son had a very rare condition. I am so grateful to them.

I took my then 3 month old there because he cried every single time he ate. At that point he was still eating...I went for countless appointments and told them the problems and they did nothing. Then...once he got older (and smarter) my now 5 month old stopped eating. Obviously he knew eating hurt and chose not to do it. We stayed with that practice for about a month more. They did nothing. Except tell me to come back every week to take my copay, charge my insurance, listen to the problems, and then do nothing. No tests- no meds- they even got mad at me for changing formulas at the recommendation from THEIR nutritionist. When I said it was the only thing that is helping, they told me to take him off of it for 4 weeks so they could do an endoscopy and see if he was allergic to milk....if he was they would put him back on it. Why would I take him off something that was finally working? Stupid. They were very sarcastic, Hyams especially. He acted like he knew everything when he barely… listened to what I was saying....and he did not care about the well being of my son. I would not recommend him. I ended up driving to Boston to see a GI there, who is amazing. The GI doctor said they let my son's reflux get so bad, and his milk intolerance out of control that he went from 75th percentile to 12th and he had a bad case of esophagitis. Which is obviously why he stopped eating. Stupid. Taking your kid to him is child abuse.
