Dr. Jeffrey Kenneth Klingenstein, MD

As I’ve read comments on yelp about Dr K I can only say that he is an excellent doctor who I’ve been going to for many years and his humor is an acquired taste but he is tops in his field and that should be all that matters in a doctor. My whole family goes to him and is very satisfied with him

I agree with Nick E. Dr. Klingenstein's sense of humor may not jive with a particular patient or two, but that is NOT a reason to deride the man and his entire practice. I am a 29 year old male who has been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease since 2007. Even before my GI troubles, Dr. K has been not only my primary doctor but my father's as well for as far back as I can remember (I want to say more than two decades. Neither I nor my father would keep going back to him if his expertise and service weren't impeccable. The wait times are sometimes long because of the sheer volume of patients he has on a daily basis. I believe this in itself is a testament to his skill and how many people are satisfied with his services. Even when he is completely booked, Dr. K and his staff are always courteous and accommodating. I have never had trouble getting an appointment, even on last minute notice, and he's always made time to see me. The duration of the appointments are short because… Dr. K is very efficient and quick in putting together a plan of action and determining what steps need to be taken. He knows my history like the back of his hand, is very diligent in taking notes when I describe my symptoms, and co-ordinates well with other specialists when necessary. His staff take my blood and vitals quickly, he answers all my questions, inputs necessary prescriptions online with my preferred pharmacies, and does not waste time. As a fellow busy New Yorker, I place high value in this approach. In conclusion, I couldn't ask for a better GP/GI. I would like to thank Dr. K for everything he's done for the last 8 years to help me manage this disease, and will continue to seek his professional advice and services.

If you are looking for a new doctor, do not go here. Dr. K. is burnt out as a doctor. He doesn't care about your problems, he thinks you're whining. He shows up late to his office, overbooks, so expect to wait at least an hour in a tiny waiting room. The office is bare-bones basic and very dated. He writes rx's incorrectly, so expect to go back to get it re-written. He's grumpy, and he's rude to his staff. All he wants is your colonoscopy $$.

Makes quips about your symptoms and appears not interested. Will refer you to a specialist so he does not have to get involved. Not the doctor you want for your primary physician.

Dr.Klingenstein is definitely not a doctor I would go back or recommend to my friends or family. He doesn't seem he is up to date about medicine, and blows you off before you could express your concern. He simply doesn't listen. This was the second time I visited his office, I was unhappy after the first visit, but wanted to give it a second try, maybe I was too sensitive. I just came back from the second visit, and he was arrogant, impatient and had absolutely no knowledge about my problem. I will never go back there.

Doctor Klingenstein was rude, patronizing, and dismissive of my concerns. Was literally laughing at my suggestions about possible diagnoses and refused to evaluate me for diseases I have symptoms of. Upon physical examination he POKED me where my gallbladder used to be even though I had told him it was removed recently. He then said "oops, I forgot, sorry" even though I told him about the surgery 10 minutes before. He made it seem like I was basically making up my serious and painful symptoms. Finally he refused to take my case, since he was the 3rd GI I had gone to. His exact words were "I don't know what you want from me, since I'm the 3rd one in the game." I have reason to believe alot of this treatment was because of me being Hispanic and overweight; he kept looking me up and down with almost a snarl of distaste. First and LAST time I go to this Medicaid-fleecing disgrace.
