Dr. Jeffrey Jay Nelson, MD

I highly recommend Jeffrey Nelson, MD. I had numerous sinus polyps and an inverted papilloma completely pugging one nostril. Another Sanford Doctor referred me to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I’m 75 YO and reluctant to drive to Rochester a minimum of 3 times, so my daughter, a local nurse did some checking for ENT doctors and recommended Dr. Nelson, at Sanford who performed the surgery. I am 100% satisfied with the results and he saved me 3,600 miles of driving. The surgery Doctor Nelson performed greatly improved my physical comfort and as a bonus he’s a very caring doctor. FIVE STARS.

Saw Dr. Nelson for a second opinion regarding my son's ear infections. Could not be happier with the care we received! He was so patient with my son who is normally very afraid of doctors. We highly recommend him!

Our pediatrician was concerned with the size of our daughters tonsils, after discussing the other issues she has had (terrible breath, snoring, occasionally choking when eating and drinking, and having strep throat fairly often) we agreed that having her tonsils removed would be a good choice. We were referred to confirm that her tonsils were problematic and do a hearing check. The hearing specialist agreed that her tonsils were most likely the culprit because she had zero issues with the hearing test. Dr. Nelson asked why we were there. I told him an overview of what was going on and he dismissed the bulk of it because he said she was to young to convey to me, if she was in fact having any problems. He then continued to tell me she grinds her teeth, and that’s where the poor sleep issues were coming from. She’s not had a problem with grinding her teeth and her dentist has never mentioned grinding. He was very dismissive of any information I gave him. Honestly we should have just left… when he first started to belittle and argue what I had to say. Disappointed with the care our daughter received, and would not recommend this ENT to others.

My daughter had horrible congestion and ear infections. She ended up having an ER visit for another reason. After MRI scan from ER visit he said she need adenoids out and tubes put in. He continued to tell me why she was having seizures in ER and that they could be from NOT having all her vaccines? Then he said it was possible because I did IVF to have her? WHAT!? FINALLY got around to her ENT issues?? by this point I was fried. She did have surgery with him, so far (a month) looks good. But at our post follow up he said at my daughters age (2) he had to be careful as she was growing and it could grow back? Seriously... that is not a good Dr. if they didnt get all the tissue. Also he said she needed to be on flonase for the rest of her life, with no more symptoms or reason for using flonase. It also says on childrens flonase not to use for more than 2 months out of the year. Continued to say he wanted to understand why I wouldnt give flonase even though I continued to tell him that my… daughter had 0 symptoms to give it to her. He is very insincere. He made me feel belittled and that he was above me because he went to school for ENT. Not good bedside manner. He also continued to talk bad about scheduling staff and staff at the hospital. Again not a good look for a Dr.

At this particular office my family has over 20 years of history. My infant son had been very ill and new dangerous symptoms displayed after our previous visit with a skilled doctor. The on call physician stated to bring our child in as soon as possible the next day to be seen and adjust the rx. The office staff advised me this doctor was "good" since our regular doctor was unavailable. I provided the information from the on call doctor amidst his incessant interruptions and condescending behavior, he chose to continue to insult me asking why I brought my child to be seen. It was clear he had not read the medical chart including history. This doctor is a waste of time and money. I fear for everyone on his patient roster.
