Dr. Odel listened closely to my description of my symptoms, gave me a very thorough examination and took time to explain carefully his diagnosis. The appointment was unhurried but efficient. I would highly recommend him.

I was referred to Dr. Odel, he was known to my dr. (not an eye dr.) but believed him to be one of the best. So Not in my case. I had, still have chronic blurred vision, chronic pain coming from an area in outer corner of rt. orbital bone (top), horrid migraines (those are now gone); dry eye was the least of my problems (he 'got' that one). I was basically close to immediately given over to his "normal" nice assistant who actually listened to my symptoms, but he was her boss and intimating. Dr Odel unfortunately knew it all..... I was desperate, something was very wrong, even though he didn't accept my insurance I still paid the $750 and that was years and years ago.... After hours of testing by his assistant, most of them were a standard waste, I than got to see him for all of ten minutes at the end of the appt., I was told I just have 'some dry eye' and to use baby shampoo. Yes I do have dry eye, but the big problem he 100% missed, the vessel under my right eye,… for lack of medical terms, was slowly leaking blood. Recently I showed a surgeon's nurse just one photo of my right eye, taken during an attack which were common and especially in those days; the skin underneath my right eye was so inflamed, to the point of being scabbed over. She immediately said and knew this was Occlusion. The first opth. who deals with diseases of the eye and surrounding area - with a slit lamp, it took him all of seconds to note the lumps throughout the tops of both orbital bones, a Gash in outer corner of the top rt. orbital bone (area of pain to this day). How did Dr. Odel miss what was so obvious? Dismissed me with 'dry eye'. It seemed so obvious to me, he just 'knew' I was an over-reacting female. Misdiagnosed (the dry eye yes correct, but not the 'real serious problem') a $750. check later, and sent away as if I was some wacko, who just need baby shampoo. Sometimes the 'big names' really miss the so obvious.

I have not words to express my appreciation for Dr. Odel's staff and his expertise in patient care. He is extremely absorbed and involved in his patients care and positive outcome.....I know, since I am a vision survivor. Please, if you need vision care, give this Great Doctor a visit....you will NOT be Unhappy! P. Simmons
