Dr. Jeffrey Mitchell Rhodes, MD

I had the closure of my varicose veins done in both legs. The surgery it self went well and I was very happy the first week with nearly no pain or discomfort. I am now two month past the date of surgery and still have pain and discomfort in both my legs. Doctor Rhodes and his staff did not explain to me the side effect or discomfort that result after surgery. They did give me a VNUS Closure Post-Procedure Instruction hand out which I followed. It did not say anything about problems you may encounter after surgery. After five days I went back for my first follow up surgery check up. After the Ultrasound they told me everything looked good and that I could stop wearing the ace bandage wraps. This was real encouraging since I'm a running and I was eager to start again. Within two weeks I was in such pain and discomfort I had to go back. I had hard knots where the valves had been burn shut, swelling where the needles/probe was put in and pain from knee to my groin where the veins were… burned shut. It was so bad at night in bed that I would cry. Dr Rhodes P/A in think told me to wrap them again and take Aleave. She didn't seem to show much concern for my problem and she said this was normal and we told you about it. It would have been nice to have a hand out explaining possible after effect of the procedure. It has now been two month since my surgery and I still have discomfort and pain both my legs. It is not as bad as a month ago but I'm still not running!! I had called again to ask them if there was anything else I could be doing to get ride of the knots and swelling and they never returned my called. The other thing that really bothered me was the rotating staff they have. I had three different people do Ultrasounds, four different receptionist, and could never talk to the same nurse about my concerns with my legs. Bottom line is that I would not recommend Dr Rhodes for this surgery unless you like inconsistent uncaring staff and have a long time to recover.

Thorough and friendly. I was nervous but was made to feel very comfortable by the nurse practitioner. Her explanation was clear and concise.
