Dr. Jeffrey Scott Stoessl, MD

This review is for my first and only visit with Dr. Jeffrey Stress. I know times are stressful during this time of Covid-19 and the time Dr. Stress was in my room was very brief. This was also my first experience at the Salem health clinic. Please keep those two things in mind. That being said I am giving him 2 stars rather then 1 star. Here was my brief experience with this Doctor. I tend to read reviews and research everything I can before buying a large item or choosing a new DR. I read reviews on multiple websites including this one before choosing my primary care doctor. Due to Covid-19 it took me 15 minutes to park and enter the building. So I was few minutes late when I finally was inside the exam room. I had injured my knee and a few days prior went to a different urgent care. I was prescribed two medicines, one for pain and one for the muscles in my knee/leg to relax. Each prescription being 10 pills and 12 pills respectfully. The DR in the urgent care could tell I was in… pain and I had tears in my eyes from walking into the urgent care. I went to see Dr. Stress since he was my primary care physician. I told him about my knee hurting and about my urgent care visit a few days prior as well as had the papers giving to me with the medication listed in them. The Urgent care DR sent me for an x-ray, but also said I could wait to see my normal DR and have him send me for one. I also told Dr. Stress about the knee brace the Urgent Care DR gave me. Dr. Stress did not want to send me or an x-ray and seemed irritated about everything the urgent care DR said and did expect for the fact the urgent care DR gave me a shot of Dr. Stress told me that an X-ray was not necessary, that I did not need pain killers even if the pain kept me awake at night, that I should not wear a knee brace or take the muscle relaxers the other DR prescribed. Please keep in mind I did not ask him for additional pain killers or muscle relaxers. All I asked was to be sent for an x-ray. I then asked him what I should do, and he told me to "Just walk it off". He then abruptly left the exam room. I did not have a chance to ask if he felt I needed to be prescribed blood pressure medication, since this time and the last few times I have been at a DR's office my blood pressure was higher than 160/90. So I ask the nurse about it who said she would go ask the dr. She leaves to ask him and says thatches review is for my first and only visit with Dr. Jeffrey Stress. Dr. Stress said Toradol is a great drug, and he would send the nurse in to give me a shot of it before I left the exam room. Dr. Stress then tells me that an X-ray was not necessary, that I did not need pain killers even if the pain kept me awake at night, that I should not wear a knee brace or take the muscle relaxers the other DR prescribed. I have been to see a DR for a work injury and a nurse who reviews my Workman's comp case has asked me about my high blood pressure. So I ask the nurse about my high blood pressure and that I have a family history of high blood pressure. She said she would talk to the DR. She then returns that Dr. Stress said for me to come back in a week and if my blood pressure is still high he might prescribe me some medication. The nurse then gives me the shot of Toradol and I leave. I have since chosen to change my primary care DR and to stay with Salem Clinic. I really wish Dr. Stress took more time to listen to me and not treat me like I am a drug addict or that I just wanted pain killers. Please keep in mind I normally do not write bad reviews and I have nothing in my chart about abusing any medication. I feel Dr. Stress did not listen to my needs and I gained nothing from my visit. I worked in health care for decades, as has my wife who is an R.N., and we could not be happier with the care that Dr. Stoessl has provided for us through a series of health issues. Highly intelligent, compassionate,patient and superbly knowledgeable, Dr. Stoessl personifies the qualities we all seek in our family physician. And the Salem Clinic is truly an excellent, well run medical clinic, as good as I have ever experienced.

Me and my family have been seeing Dr. Stoessl for 14 years and have never had an issue with him or his staff. From my first visit until know he has ALWAYS taken the time to ask questions and show that he cares about what is going on. Involving you in the decision making process for your health. I have no problem highly recommending him to friends and family.

Very helpful and thoughtful

He was unkind, full of disdain and incompassionate, He is not a Doctor you want to see in a pinch. There is no understanding in his voice, nor does He seem to care for His patients.

Dr Stoessl takes care of my whole family and will be the pediatrician for our first grandchild due in the spring.When we first moved to Oregon I signed up with Salem Clinic and just took an appointment with the first available dr.That was 4 years ago. When you are talking to Dr Stoessl you get the feeling you are really being listened to, even if your thoughts are somewhat disorganized. It's obvious he is caring by the amount of feedback he gives you and the promptness of his actions when being asked for information. We have moved 25 miles away and I am firm in my decision to stay with Dr. Stoessl and I know that it is worth the extra time and effort to get to my appointments because I know that he would (and has) go the extra mile for me. Pun intended.

I have been going to Dr. Jeffrey Stoessl since he first moved here to Salem, about 15 years ago. He has been everything I wanted in a good Dr., caring, competent, and up to date. His referrals to specialists have been on the money, and the Drs he has referred me to have been excellent as well. I may not schedule all of the exams he wants to do for prevention, but he still prods me to see him. I could not ask for better medical treatment.

a very rude, condesending and uncaring person. the clinic in which he works treats it's patients like cattle...the more cattle the more $$
