Dr. Jeffrey Gress Stovall, MD

He treated me terribly. I was told in hospital I needed to be on specific meds for depression and he was informed. He said that maybe I should just see a therapist which I have for 4 years. He put me on no medication the entire time I was in hospital.

Dr Stoval was completely informed about serious issues prior to my relative's appointment. Despite this, he suggested they seek other outside counseling treatment without ever following up or requiring a treatment take place at Vanderbilt or even be in touch with the patient at all. Dr Stoval did not meet with family members that came to the visit or the family member who called in advance of the visit to make sure Dr. Stoval would be informed prior to the appointment, of the serious issues.Thus, the individual did not get the care they needed and continued their self harm. I truly don't know what was the point in the visit to Dr Stoval's office. The office staff though are very easy to communicate with and caring. The appointment was easy to make and there was little waiting time when we arrived.

My husband has been struggling without help from this doctor. This "physician" has shown no interest in concerns seriously expressed by family. He upped the medicine my husband takes without even requiring any followup. It is baffling how he is allowed to "treat" emotional, psychological and/ or mental issues that people need serious help for. Perhaps this man is truly concerned and capable to help or has helped others, but in our experience he seems too detached and unconcerned and thus not very helpful.

Dr Stovall is not a nice doctor. He treated me with the utmost disrespect and could obviously care less about my health. I would highly recommend finding someone else if you want to get better.

Dr. Stovall doesn't care about his patients. He does not treat them like they are an actual person. I am thankful I have a doctor for my dad that actually cares that he needs help! This man does not!!! Beware

I'm unsure why this guy has a 1 star rating. He seems to genuinely care about his patients. I honestly view myself as a lost cause, yet he continues to try and help me in any way he can. He is one of very few people I can allow myself to open up with and be honest. I recommend him highly. He hasn't "fixed" me.. but nobody has. Atleast he seems to care.

If you can even get an appointment with Dr. Stovall he will cancell it several times. Then when you finally get your appointment if your not bouncing off the wall nuts he will assign all your care to a student psychiatrist. Psychiatric care is very poor in the south anyways-getting an appt with insurance is almost impossible. They Docs figure they get a paycheck even if they treat no one so its really a circus trying to get care in Tennessee.
