Awesome psychiatrist. Dr. Taxman is not the stereotypical psychiatrist; he works with your other physicians and lab work to diagnose a condition only after ruling out purely medical causes for symptoms that could be considered psychiatric. He is also incredibly easy to talk to during therapy appointments and really good about helping you get to the root of your concern. Dr. Taxman was not accepting patients when I first tried to get an appointment several years ago, but after sharing my story with an administrative member of his staff, he called me back promptly and got me in right away. I had a diagnosis of late stage Lyme disease, which presented with many neurological and psychiatric symptoms- so in addition to a primary LLMD, a good psychiatrist who could work with me and try to sort out possible psychiatric conditions versus symptoms that could be caused by Lyme, hypothyroidism and vitamin/mineral deficiencies was essential.In addition to carefully reviewing medical history, lab… work and personal history, Dr Taxman has really helped me with weekly therapy (sometimes more than once per week when my situation was critical) and helped me work through the times when the Lyme was causing pure delusions, horrible depression, anxiety and lack of sleep for days at a time to a point where I just couldn't comprehend that a medical disease could be causing so many "psychiatric problems" and really thought I may be presenting with a major psychiatric illness on top of Lymes disease. I am so thankful I was seeing him and not another doctor that may not have been as thorough and would overprescribe meds for me that I did not need with negative side effects. This not to say Dr Taxman did not prescribe me medication for relief and to treat symptoms appropriately, but he really worked with me to make sure I was comfortable with what was being prescribed and it was 100% necessary. He also has worked with me to discontinue certain medications during treatment of my disease as I improve, which is wonderful.I believe Dr. Taxman has a background working with chronically ill patients that have debilitating diseases and really helped me cope with feelings of loss, guilt, despair, loss of control of my life - all of which I understand now are not unusual, but very common when a disease changes your life in a debilitating way. In my case, the case of Lyme disease I had was so severe, I changed from a high functioning, ambitious, high energy, social individual to a bedridden, exhausted, delusional person desperate to feel "normal" in both the physical and emotional sense. I am confident my recovery was expedited by Dr. Taxman really working with me to manage the feelings and symptoms associated with my disease and the absolute train-wreck Lyme had caused my life to turn into in almost all area. He treated me with not only appropriate medications, but also thoughtful and meaningful therapy sessions to help me cope with the new challenges a debilitating disease brings to a precious healthy and happy person. I highly recommend reaching out to Dr. Taxman if you are in need help whether related to a debilitating disease or another root cause. From my experience, it is very difficult to find such a high caliber doctor that will go above and beyond to make a difference in a patients life.

Dr Taxman is outstanding in everyway. My ONLY 'complaint' would be he is not always easy to get into BUT, when you are that great a doc and there are so many clammoring to get in to see you, what else would you expect. He bends over backwards to address emergencies. His care and concern is GENUINE and real, not contrived or artifical like I have experienced at other offices. He is a gifted physcian and would encourage anyone in need of his services to be patient in getting an appointmenet, I promise it is worth it.
