I've been suffering w/ foot & ankle pain for over 10yrs. I've had 5 surgeries to try to alleviate the pain only to have added more pain! My new ortho. doc recommended 2 foot injections from a radiologist! Greenville Outpatient Radiology team of schedulers & registration gals were great to work with! Dr.Wienke (the Radiologist) & his assistant( a awesome Radiology Technologist) explained everything and assured me if I felt any pain to let them know and they would give more numbing medicine! So my multiple areas were numbed then through a very thin needle a x-ray contrast was injected to guarantee the needle was in the right joint space(which it was 1st approach!)then injected the corticosteroid. Dr. Wienkes kind soft voice has this relaxing effect that I had no clue that the procedure was done and he was placing a band-aid on it! He also told me that the initial numbing medicine would wear off in 24 hrs and the corticosteroid would take effect in about a week! Well since the… injections, which were 3 weeks ago, I am still pain free(for now)! Knowing that a ankle replacement in is my future I will continue having these ankle injection until they say I can't have anymore! I will(try to) request that Dr. Wienke be the radiologist to preform the procedures! I will ask for the same young young lady to assist him as well! They're like Batman & Robin...they get the job done! Thank you for taking care of me!
