Dr Winterfield was a breath of fresh air! My husband found a doctor that not only listened to his concerns but read his past records and did all the right test to diagnose his heart condition! He showed empathy and compassion through the entire process! He did a pvc ablation that was successful! He then directed us to another wonderful doctor ( Dr Vo) who implanted a pacemaker/defibrillator! We feel that he and Dr Vo has given my husband “Greg” a second chance on life! Our prayers have deybeen answered!

Presented for ablation for PVC with concomitant AFIB of lesser immediate concern. Dr Winterfield, in studying pre procedure EKG, recognized that AFIB was of greater immediate concern and need for ablation than PVC which subsequent monitoring clearly supported, Pre procedure outpatient heart monitor indicated PVC at 20% whereas EKG pre procedure reflected only 4%. Dr Winterfield quickly discerned that priority for treatment Was AFIB. Post procedure, patient’s symptoms/ complaints greatly relieved/assuaged with PVC to be followed further. Great attention to fluid condition and great call on action taken. MUSC has a great talent teaching and treating in Dr Winterfield.!! A D

Dr. Winterfield is a highly skilled cardiologist who is excellent in diagnostic expertise and skilled in developing successful treatments that are lifesaving.

Thank you for taking the time to read this review, I can not speak highly enough about Dr. Winterfield. My wife is a patient of his and this was our first experience with MUSC. Dr Winterfield was very attentive during our first visit and subsequent visit that we had prior to her procedure. Dr Winterfield and the staff at MUSC did a great job and I feel very comfortable recommending both he and the hospital.

I was looking forward to my appointment with Dr. Winterfield, as I as heard good things about him but they were totally wrong. At our appointment, after waiting for about an hour after our scheduled time, he barely let me talk and explain the symptoms I was having. When he read them he blew it off and said they were something everyone has. He said that he “doesn’t like to label things he can’t fix.” - HIS EXACT WORDS. He told me basically to live with my symptoms and drink water, and change my diet as the ones the other doctors have suggested were wrong. Turns out he was very incorrect, I went to a different doctor and they have found problems with my pituitary/adrenal glands - I have to take medication the rest of my life for such problems. They also suggested that I try going to a different cardiologist. I understand pituitary glands/adrenal glands/endocrinology isn’t his field but to totally disregard my symptoms and then act like he knows everything better than every other doctor… was very unprofessional. I was very disappointed with him, and to not even refer us to someone else when my symptoms were actually related to an actual problem and not just from “not drinking enough water.”

Very positive demeanor, energetic, asks good questions, great listener and is patient. He explains things so that I understand them.
