Dr. Jeffrey Carey Wolkowicz, MD

I was Diagnosed with multiple Sleep Disorders and Narcolepsy due to very Severe OSA from a Doctor in another State who serves on the Board of Internal Medicine who Diagnosed my condition and had me on medication. I moved to FL and found Dr. Wolkowicz hoping to continue the treatment and medicine which was working for me in the other state for over a year. Even with my Medical Records this doctor showed no empathy and basically wanted to do what he wanted disregarding my previous Doctors treatment and Orders. He even went so far as to tell me 'Try over the counter caffeine pills' - Not sure how this doctor is still in practice with all the bad reviews. I wish I would have checked all the sites with his 1-2 star reviews before wasting my time. If you have a serious condition and require serious treatment this is not the place for you. Shame on you Dr.Wolkowicz you not only insulted me, you insult my previous doctor and the field of medicine as a whole.

This is a message I sent to Dr. Jeff Wolkowicz Aug. 1, 2020: At 9pm right now, Saturday evening I just hesitantly called you, only because I am having some difficulty breathing. My first words were: "Doctor, this is Richard Peritz and I'm awfully sorry to bother you but..." And you immediately cut me off and angrily said: "You ARE bothering me! I don't have any results, you are not special !" And you hung up on me before I could even ask you about my needing to take deep breaths and having some nasal congestion. I have never been treated so disrespectfully and unprofessionally by anyone, and I'm very surprised. I generally ask people for a very little in life and am very easy-going. I am astonished by your hostile impatience. You and I only spoke twice before, briefly once on the phone and then in your office after I had breathing tests. And today! I am very sorry there is any reason to say I am astonished by your totally unwarranted and unprofessional conduct.

I just called to that office, I'm a cov19 patient, a very rude woman took the phone and the din't want to even take cov19 patients, they told me not even a virtual consultation, when I asked her why she said a lot excuses. What kind of pulmonologist in this crisis say he doesn't take cov19 patients? Even for a virtual consultation? This is why many of us are dying, they wait until you have a very bad crisis and go to the hospital, when you are at home they don't want to take care of you! Who is going to help us if the isuposse to help is if the specialist don't want?! Something happens to me I made this people responsible!!

Maybe very knowledgeable however I didn’t get that. He was not attentive nor caring. He needs better approach to patient care. He was hurried, spent about 10 minutes only because I was asking questions. He stood, hovering the entire time closer to the door as he was ready to leave as soon as he got to the room. He was short, dismissive, and behaves as if spending time to explain was bothersome and came close to even appearing rude. He did not listen to what I was saying as he already made up his mind about what I expressed. This was not a good experience. I hope he learns to listen to his patients. I received more care and attention from his front desk and medical assistant personnel than him.

Dr. Wolkowicz is a wonderful doctor who just needs to smile more and be a little more personable. The office staff is another story completely! I called yesterday because my husband was in the hospital for a week, and now he’s back at school which makes it difficult to for him to make calls. I told him I would help out. He did make a couple of calls to the office to get a script for a needed chest X-ray. The young lady who he was communicating with did tell him she would call him back after speaking with the doctor and after a couple days he did not receive that call. I called yesterday to tell the office that I would be the communicator to make it easier for my husband. I called, introduced myself and the young lady interrupted me a couple times, jumping all over me. I did nothing wrong, I did nothing to deserve that. I just wanted to let the office know that it is difficult for my husband and give them my number. After I cooled down I called back, and told whoever answered the… phone to tell that young lady I will be filing a complaint. Everyone has a bad day, but she really was over the top. Office staff assists in making a doctor’s office a success.

It took 3 weeks to even get into the office to see Dr Foster. Low and behold, Dr Foster was not in the office today since he's on vacation until May 9. The nurse who brought me into the exam room asked why I was there. I said I have been having trouble sleeping. I can't seem to stay asleep. I'm up most nights from 12am-6am. She said, "you have sleep apnea" and walked out. Who is she to give a diagnosis? I told the next nurse who came into the room who rolled her eyes and seemed used to the other nurse diagnosing patients. I ended up having to see Dr Wolkowicz who's bedside manner was so poor and unethical. Before coming into my room I over heard his conversation with another patient. Dr Wolkowicz said to her, "What do you want from me? You come in here complaining. Take a look at yourself in the mirror." This was an elderly woman who started the conversation asking a question about her surgery. I felt so terrible and appalled that a Dr would speak to his patient this way. I… considered walking out right then and there. Before I could, Dr Wolkowicz came into my room. Checked my heart, lungs and throat. He then tells me I don't have sleep apnea just simple insomnia and told me to take Ambien at 1am. Really? He proceeded to tell me the insomnia stems from my PTSD and depression. He said insomnia is a psychological disorder. Again, really? I jokingly said to him, "you're saying in other words my life sucks?" He looks me dead in my eyes, no smile and said , "YES!" He proceeded to walk out of the room and that was it. I'm grateful I was there only for a sleep issue. I couldn't imagine putting my life in this man's hands. Off to see a real Dr who's interested in finding out the under lying cause for my insomnia. Worst $50 copay ever spent.

Dr Wolkowicz really cares about his patients and it shows.

Office staff lied to me about having sent a fax to the oxygen suppliers for my mom who's been suffering from oxygen levels under 75 for weeks. It is now Friday and they've left early. Called the Dr. and he said it will have to wait until Monday.

I highly recommend visiting Dr. Wolkowicz. He listened to my concerns and was very patient with me. Very smart!!

My brother visited Dr. Wolkowicz when he was having pain in his chest. I went with him to the appointment because he was nervous. The Dr was very professional when he made the diagnosis and very patient when he described the situation and treatment options to my brother. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a pulmonologist
