Dr. Jeffrey Yu, MD

Man saw me for over 10 years, never remembered my name, I wanted to be “weaned” of my medication to see if I can go without it. He said I would ALWAYS need to take seizure medication. I switched to UIC, and the amazing specialist was flabbergasted that he didn’t at least TRY. Granted I had to pay 1000 just to see her but I am medication free and SEZURE free. I was sent to him as a teenager and trusted his judgement. I don’t know how many years I was taking depakote and then levetiracetam without needing to. I was a young lady and he would constantly dismiss my worries. I did my “research” since I was going to start birth control soon and googled things just to see the dangers of taking my seizure medication with other pills. I remember asking him and Yu simply turned on his computer and went on the SAME GOOGLE PAGE I went to…I believe that was the last straw. I simply stopped my appointments with him once I was able to find another insurance and provider.

I was sent to him for second opinion due to my long Covid. He was trying to catch me on faking my symptoms!! He wrote in my chart that I exaggerate my symptoms! He talked to me so loud like I am deaf or stupid, didn’t make eye contact and just in general was annoyed by my presence. I don’t think he cares about anything or anyone.

He told me my neurological condition was caused by "me thinking too fast" but then I went to another neurologist my cousin recommended and then was diagnosed with an actual medical condition and received 5 days of steroids and now I'm cured, pain and pill free. I've suffered for years and years with this pain and to have Dr. Yu be so dismissive, interrupt every second, and not pay attention to what I was saying was so disappointing. I wish I could get a refund on my copay. Why be a Dr if you don't like people ?

His misdiagnosis. Of cervicogenic headaches. Lead to delay of. severe hypoplastic transverse sinus. diagnosis. Suggested. Mra. said not needed. He was wrong.will never go back to this guy.

My husband and I were very disappointed in our visit with Dr. Yu. The very first thing he said after introducing himself was that he could not prescribe a certain medication because I am pregnant... mind you, we had not discussed my symptoms or what the medication he was talk about even did. I spent a significant amount of time tracking the onset, severity, and location of headaches, as well as what I was doing at the time, and any symptoms I was experiencing. I handed this log to him, he thumbed through, and proceeded to hand it back to me, only to ask me exactly what I had written out. He asked me four different times if I had light or sound sensitivity, and even though the answer every single time was ‘no’, he prescribed me a medication that corrects migraines with light and sound sensitivity. The prescription I received is also one that only allows for 9 pills in a month, that you make take up to two every 24 hours... not a very viable solution for someone who has sever headaches… every single day. Overall, our appointment with Dr. Yu was a complete waste of time and money. I should have know there was a reason he was the only neurologist with an open schedule, and I am incredibly disappointed I didn’t wait a little longer for someone who would have taken the time to find a solution or a cause to the problem... not just someone who wanted to throw pills at me and use that as a bandaid.

Knows nothing personally about me or shows no interest, only what my chart and records say. He basically does the regular. How are you doing? look here, push that, walk like this...I told him my plans for the future and I, not a doctor or specialist came in with questions regarding other medication. He brushed it off with an "uh hu" and no explanation. He has A LOT of clients. Your just a number here.
