Office is always overbooked and you wait hours.They need to work on that.It’s not worth it for his 2 minutes of time.My time is precious to me.

Very quick visit. Told him I was in excruciating facial pain. He said I did not have a TMJ joint issue. Said I had trigeminal neuralgia and told me to go back to Neurology. Neurology said I don't have TN. Dr Schaefer didn't even ask if I had a night guard or anything related to TMJ which I've already been dx with. I explained my bite keeps changing and my jaw gets stuck. He seems to want to dismiss me. Later I saw another dentist and got a cone beam CT and I do have a joint issue, TMJ arthritis.

Dr. Shaefer is a wonderful DDS but is over booked and someone in the office should should advise him to be a little more realistic with his appointment times and give more time for each appointment instead of making patients wait. This is a very specialized medical field so one hasn't much choice in seeing a specialist like him but that should be no excuse. Other than that he is a wonderful DDS and highly recommend him if you have a TMJ issue that can not be resolved with your local dentist. He has a team of specialist he works with that will take proper care of your condition.

First appt in private treatment room was excellent, he takes measurements and has a very pleasant manner. However he is usually overbooked with a 2-4 month wait for an appt., then a 1-2 hr wait with a few patients in chairs like an assembly line. It's too quick and not private. He is an excellent diagnostician, does injections and staff does careful measurements but night guard is more expensive than others and he doesnt really engage or answer important questions after that 1st appt. I tried to ask about a potential new condition and adverse reaction but he doesnt respond. Maybe because he is overbooked, and has to document and is often typing,but somehow has incorrect history and meds. Your chart is important so ask for it before your next appt. and talk slow. Its the hospital overbooking him so please let him practice with less patient load.
