Jema Day, AGACNP-BC, CWON-AP, is a highly qualified and experienced nurse practitioner specializing in care of acute and chronic wounds, negative pressure wound therapy, compression wraps and edema management, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, and basic ostomy care and education. Prior to becoming a provider with Athens Family Practice and the Advanced Wound Care Center at Starr Regional Medical Center - Etowah, Jema worked with Piedmont Healthcare for more than 20 years as a critical care nurse (18 years) and a wound care nurse practitioner (6+ years). She has also worked with Air Life Georgia as a flight nurse. Before joining Piedmont, she was an aeromedical evacuation emergency medical technician on the C-130 Hercules in the Air Force Reserves.With a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Jema is dedicated to providing advanced care to adults and older adults with acute, chronic, and critical health conditions. She is also a Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse …- Advanced Practice, certified by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board. This prestigious certification validates Jema's extensive knowledge and skills in wound, ostomy, and continence care, making her the go-to expert in this field. Jema is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, United Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, American Nurses Association, Wound, Ostomy & Continence Nurses Society, and Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society. In her spare time, Jema enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and being outdoors gardening or in the mountains.
