Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:I had always aspired to become a physician, particularly a family practitioner or a pediatrician. In medical school, I found neurosciences and neurology very interesting. It was a field that allowed for building long-term relationships with patients, one of the reasons why I chose medicine in the first place. It also allowed for opportunities to make a difference, not only the patient, but also their caregivers and family. So, I pursued training in pediatrics with the ultimate goal of becoming a pediatric neurologist.What I want my patients to know about me:I believe in the importance of support from family, friends, and others, and how this affects the overall well being of a person. I have a large extended family with whom I remain very close despite us living in different states and countries. What I do when I'm not seeing patients:I enjoy spending time with my family, specifically the day-to-day activities, with my husband and grade …school-age daughter. This includes eating together as much as possible, watching various cooking and remodeling TV shows, seeing movies at the theater or at home, playing cards and board games, decorating and craft projects (surfing Pinterest!), and being out in the sunshine. We have a dog who is very much a part of our lives. I also enjoy travelling to see my extended family and reading.
