Dr. Kowalik and her nurses are friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome and comfortable. However on all occasions I’ve gone in for an appointment or spoken with the receptionist over the phone it’s been very unpleasant. She is unfriendly and seems like she doesn’t care at all for the patients that are coming through the door. Basic friendliness isn’t difficult, being ignored or treated like an idiot when you are a new patient or are already feeling unwell is the worst way to start an appointment. She even hung up on me when I was calling to ask about a prescription that was to be called in to my pharmacy. I will continue seeing Dr. K only because she is wonderful, but her receptionist needs an attitude adjustment.

I like this Doc! She's quick and straight forward. I had questions and she answered them and explained why I maybe didn't get the care or understand what prior Drs were intending. I don't get the reviews about the front desk staff. Yes, they asked a lot of questions when I first called but I get that with the Insurance and all the Govt rules clinics have to work differently today. They gave me several options for times and I was happy. I did witness that some other patient came too early for their appointment and was mad when they didn't get checked in. But the staff explained that if someone didn't show up they might t in faster but they would not be checked in if others showed up for their appointments on time as they had those allotted appointment times. I agree, no cutting in line and pushing others back. Seemed fair to me, but the parent got really rude and in the staff's faces. The staff just firmly explained the policy, in the end the parent got so mad they walked… out. I don't agree with that kind of behavior. It's a fair policy to see people at their appointment times and not try to squeeze someone else in ahead which would then push everyone on time back. Doc got a call from the hospital and had to run "catch a baby" but I was given an opportunity to wait or reschedule and chose to wait. She was back fast and since she is also an OB I guess that kind of thing can be expected. I knew that walking in she delivered babies so I was OK with it.

I am advanced maternal age with diabetes and other risk factors. Dr Kowalik has the highest standard of care I have ever experienced! I like her to the point manner and had a fantastic experience in my delivery. My baby was over 9 lbs and her patience and care enabled me to deliver with no tearing or episiotomy.

This is my first child and I did not feel like a patient. I felt like I was just another appointment on her list to check off. The wait to actually see the doctor was ridiculous! And when I finally got back to the room I had to wait an extra 20 minutes even though I had an 8:30am appointment and I was the only one in the entire office! When she came into the room she was not welcoming and was very routine with me. I probably only spent 30 minutes tops with the actual doctor and I was in the office for almost 2 hours! At checkout the ladies at the front desk were just as cold as the doctor. The front desk lady just scheduled me an appointment without asking when I would be available next and when I asked for another time and day she replied with "that's what we got take it or leave it". Honestly I ended up changing my doctor.

Unprofessional and unethical staff. Absolutely the worst customer service for a physicians office that I have ever seen. Potential HIPAA violations as the staff openly discusses treatment, codes and patient issues that can be heard from the patient rooms and the lobby. The physician has zero capability or capacity for empathy and care. She lacks the basic overall knowledge to treat various illnesses as a physician board certified in Family Practice and a specialty in OB. This does not include the billing issues and wrong claims, coding and various other insurance/billing issues we've experienced. I could go on but I will leave it to the professionals in the State of Texas to review and identify all of the various issues with the facility, staff and physician.

I am looking for Dr J. kowalik who had her practice behind the Jourdanton hospital...at the time she was working with DR Fenton. both were wonderful drs! I started with her and I ended being high risk and was taken over by her practicing partner dr fenton. Both drs were wonderful and straight to the point. if anyones knows where she has relocated to...and ifs its near Jourdanton...pls private message on fb under jamiee jea. thanks and God bless!

Although this was the only office in san marcos that i found took traditional medicaid they would not schedule my appointment until dr kowalik looked over my records from ctmc because i had recently gone there for spotting which i thought was odd i hv never had this much trouble scheduling an appointment. I let the lady at the front know i needed to get in asap because of the problems i was having and because ive had a miscarriage before but tht didnt help a whole day later and still no call from them so now going to my visit in seguin where they scheduled me right away. Oh and the front desk very messy ghetto if you will papers thrown everywhere not very inviting!

Let me begin by saying that I've worked in the medical field for the last 9 years. This is a customer service based industry just like any other. Dr. Kowalik, her office staff, tech and nurses should be truly ashamed of the quality of care they provide. It is the most unprofessional group of people I've ever encountered. From the personal phone calls by front desk staff (which you can clearly hear from the waiting room), to the disgustingly unfriendly lab tech (I completely agree with the other reviewer about her lack of compassion), to the judgemental Dr. Kowalik. As we explained why we were there to see her she made it very clear that she didn't have the time to listen. She rushed us through by claiming she would make an appointment on our behalf with a specialist. The appointment was never made. We promptly changed doctors and were told that there was NEVER a need for a specialist. It terrified me that a "Doctor" would put this fear into the hearts of a pair of first time parents… who were being told our baby had " a failure to thrive". Our child is fine and didn't need ANY additional testing. Turns out we just needed a new competent Doctor. Please avoid this office...especially if you have a child!

I went here for my first baby. We found out we had lost her at our 16 week check-up. The doctor is very sweet and helpful. I am pregnant again and am going to her office again. I hate the staff, they are so rude. Last time they forgot to tell me about an appointment they had made for me, didn't fax papers to another office they sent me to, we had to wait almost 3 hrs for them to do it and one of the nurses laughed when I told her I had been super sick for a while now, had not been able to eat for 2 days because I kept throwing up and had lost weight. She basically said it was normal and to suck it up. She gave me no recommendations of what to eat or take. The only reason why I keep going is because I really like the doctor. But I am considering changing.
