Dr. Jenna Beth Marie Emerson, MD

Dr Emerson is pleasant, but her lack of interest, engagement, and common sense can have a devastating impact on on her patients. In my case, she not only ignored tumor markers rising over 3 months—a clear sign of disease progression—but blew off my repeated concerns about it for months. She was very difficult to contact. No phone calls ever, and emails are answered by her surrogates, not by her. Patients are told to expect up to a 3 working days wait for a response; I waited 6 days for her response to a significant change in my treatment. I found out about a change in my diagnosis through my electronic medical record. Because I had an appointment with her in 10 days, she indicated that it wasn’t necessary for us to speak before then. She was unaware of some test results in my record, and I had to do an end run around her to get the urgently needed tests and imaging that showed my disease had progressed while she was, as her surrogates stated, “Not concerned.” Dr. Emerson’s lack of… follow up and concern for patients as individuals means they on their own for coordinating care and getting needed auxiliary services and treatments, a needless additional stressor during what for most women will be the most stressful time of their lives. This includes checking on and following lab and imaging results, and repeated efforts to get her to pay attention. If you are assigned to Dr Emerson, insist on another provider. Your life is at stake.

No, I am not kidding about the title and not being flippant. Unfortunately, this woman borders closely on malpractice. There are several of us who agree so it is not just my opinion. Orders were not sent in, i was told “There is nothing we can do. You are not eligible for surgery.” There was, and I was, and had life-saving surgery. Results were misplaced, messages were routinely sent many days later, if at all. All symptoms are met with “It’s normal, forget about it” when one friend now has permanent neural damage. Notice there were/are no reviews of her — why? Even staff, when questioned, answer with “Well, she’s new…”. I even had to write agendas for our meetings because she always lost track and meandered. Minor bad points I am not noting here. This is nothing about Dr Henderson personally, I thought maybe she was just busy — but it was every time. The day I switched doctors was a blessing — I seriously had more stress and anxiety because of her more than the disease;… others have used the same words. Please save your life — change doctors now.
