Jenna Lee Lizewski

I was a private pay patient of Jenna’s at Birch Hill Health for nearly a year. At the beginning, I viewed her as a thoughtful and responsive provider, and I appreciated that she encouraged me to seek additional specialist and concierge care when an issue fell outside her comfort level. Unfortunately, my experience changed substantially over time. One early concern involved testosterone. I specifically reported symptoms and asked for a more comprehensive evaluation. Jenna ordered a conventional testosterone panel and told me the results were normal. I continued to feel that something was being missed, so I independently consulted a provider specializing in hormone management. More detailed testing showed significantly low free testosterone, and that provider initiated treatment. I had also been dealing with persistent EBV and mononucleosis related concerns for an unusually long period. Jenna eventually told me that she did not know what else to do. I then consulted another concierge… physician, and within approximately 60 days my EBV PCR testing became negative. I was grateful that Jenna had been willing to refer me elsewhere, and I continued to keep her fully informed. The same was true when I explored NAD and peptide therapy. Jenna stated that she was not comfortable directing NAD treatment, so I worked with outside private physicians, with her knowledge. My peptide protocol was never concealed from her. She asked that it be disclosed, and she initially agreed to monitor my health and laboratory results for safety. Despite this, she later stated that my care had “become too much” and decided to terminate the relationship. That was difficult to reconcile with what I had been told when joining the practice, including that she enjoyed working with medically complicated patients. My health biomarkers had improved substantially, and I believed the purpose of having a primary care provider was to coordinate care, monitor safety, and collaborate with specialists, even when every treatment was not personally prescribed by the PCP. My most serious concern is what happened afterward. I have made six requests for my medical records and, as of this review, have not received the complete records I requested. I also raised concerns about communications with another local healthcare organization after I had expressly asked that no further communication occur without my involvement. Jenna subsequently acknowledged and apologized in writing for communicating after that request. I was also told that her lawyer had advised her not to continue seeing me. Whatever the background, the result has been a significant disruption in continuity of care during a medically complex period. Everything described here is based on my personal experience and written communications in my possession. I have submitted complaints to the appropriate oversight organizations so that the record access, communication, and continuity of care issues can be independently reviewed. My opinion of Birch Hill changed dramatically over the course of this experience. I initially believed I had found an excellent direct primary care provider. I can no longer recommend the practice based on the termination of care, the difficulty obtaining my records, and the breakdown in coordination and communication. A patient paying privately for direct primary care should reasonably expect dependable access, transparent communication, timely records, and professional coordination with outside specialists.
