Dr. Jennifer W Brenner, MD

I find Dr. Brenner to be experienced and she always listens to my concerns.She is professional and understanding. She is prompt in getting back to me with test results. My previous gi doc retired. I am glad I found Dr. Brenner to assisst with my care.The staff at Ogden office is always helpful and polite.

I have never been discriminated against for having a mental health diagnosis until I went to Colorado Gastroenterology. My experience at Colorado Gastroenterology left me crying outside of their offices. Dr. Brenner completely ignored all of my symptoms, she accused me of purposely restricting my eating, and insinuated that all my gastro symptoms were just in my head. I told her a list of foods that hurt my stomach to the point of not being able to move, and she told me that its not possible because those foods are healthy. She blamed my gastro issues on OCD, which I am not diagnosed with. She diagnosed me with OCD! I went to her looking for medical attention because I could not eat without my stomach hurting, she told me to eat all the foods that hurt my stomach and take daily laxatives. She said that if I came back in six weeks and had not followed her orders I would be looking at a Anorexia diagnosis. I was there desperate for help because I am so desperate to eat and be able to… expand my diet, and she accused me of lying. She made me feel like I was a crazy person. She would not let me ask questions and once she got the nurse for me, she left. This behavior from a doctor is extremely negligent and she should be ashamed of herself. I left their offices with laxatives I will not be taking, and a referral to a psychologist that I will not be using since I told her I was being treated already. I still cannot eat and digest food, I'm still exhausted all the time, and I'm still in physical pain. I cannot believe that Dr. Brenner is still allowed to practice medicine. Based on the other reviews I can see that I am not alone in my experience, shame on you Dr. Brenner and shame on Colorado Gastroenterology.

She tries using psychology, which she has no expertise in, to treat and diagnose. She nearly cost me my life. She uses the guess not test method of diagnosing an illness. She guessed that I had gastroparesis and treated me with Reglan that nearly drove me to suicide. I’ve now had the test and it is negative. She even told my husband “don’t believe everything your wife says, patients often lie”. Apalling! I have found a functional medicine dr. who has successfully diagnosed and treated me for biotoxin overload due to prolonged exposure to mold. I am now happy, healthy and looking forward to living again.

Dr. Brenner is lucky we didn't sue her. It took the THIRD endoscopy over a six month period for her to get the diagnosis right and by then it was Stage 4 cancer. She diagnosed it as a hiatal hernia. She did several procedures to try to stretch the entrance to his esophagus. The slight improvement lasted about a week. He had to tube feed for months until another doctor suggested a shunt which was put in (not by her) and it changed his life dramatically. He could eat orally again. She said she was uncomfortable putting in shunts so my husband paid the price for her incompetence. At the very least she should have referred us to someone else to do this procedure. I would never, ever recommend Dr. Brenner to anyone.

Dr. Brenner had my symptoms wrong even the DAY OF my procedure, when she was going over the reason for my procedure. She forgot to give me my blood test results, and waited until I was already under a sedative to tell me only because I reminded her that she was supposed to tell me the results that day..... I obviously didn't remember, and had to call the next day. Office had my personal info wrong, after I had called 3 times to confirm. In the end, nothing conclusive came up (which is good news) but something is obviously wrong, and she did not take the time or use the proper procedures to figure it out. She told me to come back in 6 mo if symptoms persist. After I had already paid about $600 out of pocket, I got billed another $1200. She told me it was covered. But I'm sure her paycheck was covered and she got mad cash for making me go through tests I didn't need.

I didn't feel listened to at all and feel like she diagnosed me within the first 2 minutes. Not very happy about this appointment. Getting another referral.

Dr. Brenner was dismissive and uncaring. I do not recommend her, go elsehwere!
