Dr. Jennifer Carr

Dr. Jeni Carr is a board-certified plastic surgeon at Amelia Aesthetics in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she specializes in breast and body contouring procedures. Known for the warmth and generosity she brings to patient care, Dr. Carr approaches surgery as a way to give back, helping patients feel comfortable and confident in their own bodies. Before joining Amelia Aesthetics, Dr. Carr served as an Assistant Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She went on to become Program Director of the plastic surgery residency, shaping how the next generation of plastic surgeons trains and operates.

Dr. Carr is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Carr earned her medical degree through the University of Missouri-Kansas City's combined bachelor's and MD program. From there, she spent a …decade at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, completing a full general surgery residency followed by plastic surgery training. She was selected as Administrative Chief Resident in her final year.

She earned two Resident Teaching Awards from the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Society, which recognizes physicians for compassion as much as clinical skill, and was named her program's Resident Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Carr has received more than a dozen teaching awards at UNC between 2020 and 2024, including repeated Outstanding Resident Teacher and Outstanding Medical Student Teacher Awards, and a university-wide teaching award in 2024.

Her contributions reach beyond the operating room with 18 peer-reviewed publications, two surgical textbook chapters, and research presented at national meetings on breast reconstruction, microsurgery, and lymphedema. At UNC, she also introduced a new hands-on training model that gives residents a way to practice microsurgical precision before they ever reach the operating room.

Dr. Carr is a member of the American Medical Women's Association and the Association of Women Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
