Dr. Jennifer Eiko Cummings, MD

I have never given comment on a physician before, but this has become necessary. My husband, who has been a patient of Dr. Cummings for a few years, and I have been treated rudely and without human kindness. He was in the hospital twice, the second being the past week for four days and she had no courtesy to even stop in to see him although she was in the hospital. She continually turns her patients to one of the other doctors. The doctor-patient relationship is almost zero on her part and the office staff. Her office manager is very rude and at times unable to keep facts straight, very abrasive. Because my husband was weak and had questions that I had to ask, they became angry. They said we only talk to patients, not family members. Because of our questions we were abruptly told to find a new cardiologist by 30 days. Two days later a letter came confirming their decision! So sad for my dear husband and I since we are already having a stressed time.

I started seeing a cardiologist early this year due to persistent tachycardia, frightening and persistent palpitations, and just unusual heart behavior. My previous dr retired but he had ordered an echo and an event monitor. Just a week before my appointment I had my second ambulance ride this year because for no reason while dozing off my heart rate jumped up to the 170s. Anyway, she took one brief look at the results from the older tests I mentioned and said everything was just PVCs and sent me on my way. She wouldn’t listen to the symptoms I was trying to detail, and it seemed like my echo and PVCs are the end all of be all of everything I’m experiencing. She really did rush thru the whole thing, she even left in the middle of me talking to her to talk to someone outside the room, and when she came back in her nurse had asked her something and she used the phrase “I pulled it out my a**” and then looked at me and said “Anyway...” and instead of letting me talk she went on about… what PVCs are. Basic research on the web even shows some of my issues including the random daily tachycardias (which no, they don’t jump my HR to the 170s daily) aren’t just PVCs. Suffice it to say, between her rushed approach, the fact she wouldn’t dive into my symptoms even a little bit with me, and her general demeanor, I will never set foot into her office again. There has to be a cardiologist somewhere who will try a little harder.

Truly the most effective, patient, understanding physician I have ever encountered. She goes above and beyond for patients while maintaining excellent professional standards. She epitomizes excellence in every facet of her work.
