Dr. Jennifer Anne Dalrymple, DO

New to Florida and needed a new primary care physician. Dr. Dalrymple was recommended by a friend, I am very happy we found her. Contrary to some negativity posted, she is a very capable physician.

We recently moved to Florida from Ohio and were so worried about finding a new doctor. We can honestly say we are absolutely thrilled with Dr. Dalrymple. She was so kind and took the time to get to know us. She really knows what she is talking about!

I tried to report her to the medical board, but as it turns out, she isn't licensed in the state where she treated me. I'm leaving this review so that hopefully someone else will be spared the trouble this incompetent wannabe has caused me. I was referred to her for follow up care for dehydration by the emergency room where I'd had a brief stay due to mental health. I'd been through another bout of anorexia and it had landed me in the ER, then into Dalrymple's office. There was something going on besides anorexia, and NOT ONCE did she ask anything beyond what my symptoms were. There was no, "Has anything happened that might have lead to this?" or "Have you experienced a traumatic event?" All she did was ask about my symptoms, and then refuse to treat me unless I accepted a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. I know enough to know that that would have landed me on the wrong class of drugs, treating me by targeting the wrong neurotransmitters. I tried to tell her this. My problem was not an… ongoing chemical issue, lifelong in the way bipolar disorder is. I tried explaining it was only in response to certain things that I would experience my symptoms, and that they'd only started because of those things. She didn't care, and she chose to interpret my frustration over not being listened to as further evidence of an emotional disturbance. Essentially, in the same way that women were branded as "hysterical" in the 1800's, I presented as a woman with a set of symptoms that could match PTSD (following a traumatic event) or bipolar disorder, and she chose to brand me as bipolar, the new hysterical. I couldn't possibly have been experiencing something legitimately warranting these problems - I MUST live on an "emotional rollercoaster" (her term, not mine). I MUST need lifelong treatment for my inherent emotional instability. The only way to have known the difference would have been to have talked about what my experience had been, not just my symptoms. Because I am a woman, and not, for example, a man who may have been in the military, her first and only response was to refuse treatment unless I accepted that it would only be treatment for bipolar disorder. SHE DIDN'T EVEN TREAT THE DEHYDRATION THAT LANDED ME IN THE HOSPITAL TO BEGIN WITH. I took the medicine she gave me, and it made me faint repeatedly following severe, sharp bursts of pain in my head. After several days of trying to get in contact with Dalrymple, she finally, in the most rude and frustrated fashion, told me she "didn't know what to do" and refused further treatment, hanging up on me even though I was being civil and courteous while reaching out in my attempt to get help. I saw a real doctor after Dalrymple - a man who had spent most of his career in the military and working in VA hospitals. He recognized the PTSD for what it was immediately because it's so screamingly obvious. The treatment has been effective. Now, my insurance has changed and I have to find someone new, and my experience with Dalrymple - the memory of it, reliving the frustration, and the fear that I'll encounter the same or worse - is making this a significantly more stressful and damaging situation than it would otherwise be. And she wasn't even licensed. I tried to complain to the hospital at the time, because she was in an office affiliated with them, but they "had no record" that I'd ever even been referred to her. Convenient. I'm glad for my medical community they have at least shed the dead weight.
