Dr. Jennifer L. Defazio, MD

This doctor treated me in a condescending way, and would make snide remarks. She is immature and not very professional. Her sidekick Michelle who works as a receptionist is also not very friendly. It's a shame, because Sloan Kettering is a great institution and Dr. DeFazio has caused me to have to find another doctor on Long Island.

My mother who is a patient of Dr. DeFazio's tried to get an appointment with her because she has something new on her arm that she wants the Dr. to see. The receptionist would not even let my mother make an appointment, saying she had to see her primary care physician first. My mother has never had to do that before and there is nothing in her insurance that requires that. My mother has had a melanoma removed at Sloane-Kettering. She is very aware of her skin issues and all issues regarding it. This is only the second time my mother has called the office to make an appointment and has also never called the office for just advice. I don't know what or why the receptionist was doing this for. If Dr. DeFazio is so overwhelmed with patients she should have just told my mother she can't have an appointment for a while or she will try and get her in if there's a cancellation, not that she can not give her an appointment. Dr. DeFazio I would please advise you to train your staff to be more… corteous especially to your elderly patients who certainly deserve more respect and patience.

Very highly recommended.If you are worried about skin cancer, don't go to any dermatologist.Go to one that specializes in skin cancer, like Dr. Defazio.Sweet young woman, extremely thorough and knowledgeable.Answers all of my questions.Practices what she preaches...you won't see her with a sun tan.She'll probably continue to look 10 years younger because she won't destroy her skin like many of us fools have!!
