Dr. Jennifer Ruth Garrett, MD

I have been a pt of Dr. Garrett’s for the past two years. I have been a part of the medical work force and am currently in school to continue being a part of the medical community. After moving to New Orleans from Mandeville, I was excited to be able to see my PCP for multiple conditions that are in most practices referred to a specialist and outside the scope of family medicine (ADHD management and endocrine issues). Fewer co-pays and extreme proximity to where I live sealed the deal. Garrett, herself, is a good doctor as well as practitioner. She’s friendly, efficient, and I trust her medical management. In addition, the NP, who I believe is still working at the office, is an absolute delight and great provider as well. Every other aspect is a negative. The office staff is rude, incompetent, lazy, and have on multiple occasions demonstrated that the task of figuring out what everyone is going to order for lunch requires a much greater sense of diligence than their actual… occupation. Even PRETNEDING as if they are on task is subverted in order to further joke around with each other. While the aforementioned behavior is mildly unprofessional, it would be hypocritical to say that I have never done/currently do the exact same thing. These qualities are exacerbated by addition, more grievous, practices. Without specifics, I have been subject to a trend of un-returned phone calls, “left voicemail” that was unable to be found on my phone, and the rescheduling of several appointments that somehow, as the pt, I was never made aware. Even those improprieties I could encounter with a grain of salt if only the receptionist where not as rude. After attempting to clarify a jumbled mess of rxs being sent out of state and in state over the past couple of weeks, I was told that my repetitive calling was a problem and that I was pushing everyone else off of the line. The solution she suggested, if I had to speak to her again, was to leave a voicemail. This was something I would have been happy to do, if it was possible. I can empathize with the office staff. I really can. I’ve done exactly what they are doing --- insurance verification, call backs, appointment verification, triage, taking vitals, disgruntled pts complaining about wait times etc. Even knowing what I know about how hard/tedious the job can be, they are STILL unprofessional, lazy, rude, and continue to compromise the work of a good doctor.

I wanted to see Dr Garrett and scheduled an appointment with the receptionist. When I went in I never got to see the Dr at all, only the nurse practitioner, which was not my understanding. Medication prescribed by the nurse practitioner could not be fulfilled because her license was out of date, and had to be changed to the Dr's name. They ordered x-rays and I had these done immediately. Even though these were sent back to their office at 10am I did not hear the results from Dr Garrett's office by the end of that day. The receptionist was very rude and short with me on the phone. She told me I would definitely be called the next morning. Lo and behold, no phone call, no answer at their office at end of day Friday, and I have to spend another two days of my weekend not knowing what is wrong with me and not knowing what activity is safe for me.

Dr. Garrett is a gifted, caring, excellent physician.

Dr. Garrett and staff were awesome. Kind, considerate, paid attention to my needs and comfort during my time there. I will keep Dr. Garrett for as long as possible. Garrett Dent

Dr. Garrett's office is a model of how a medical practice should be run. There is almost zero wait time (a first in my life experience) and her staff is very courteous and helpful. Dr. Garrett is easy to talk to and she takes a genuine interest in your needs and well being. She is highly competent and very compassionate and she is recommended without reservation. If you're looking for a great family practice doctor in New Orleans, look no further than Dr. Jennifer Garrett!

I'm trying to convince my husband to choose Dr. Garrett for his doctor. She has all the qualities one looks for in a doctor.

My entire family goes to see Dr. Garrett and she is always warm, professional and spends as much time as needed to make sure you are comfortable with all of the information. Highly recommend.

She has been my family doctor for over a year now. Every visit has been easy to schedule, quick to get in, I have been seen almost exactly at my appointment time (sometimes even early if I have arrived early), and she has always been respectful, courteous and observant. She has listened carefully to what I explain to her, respected it completely, and worked it into her diagnoses as relevant (or informed me, to my satisfaction, when it wasn't relevant). I find this to be such a rare quality in doctors in the U.S. these days that it makes her stand head and shoulders above the rest, in my estimation.I have been so pleased, I have referred all of my friends and family to her, and they have reported to me that their experiences with her have been as good as mine.Thank you for being exceptional, Dr. Garrett!
